Murree, August 13, 2026: A significant milestone in university–industry collaboration was achieved with the inauguration of the Walee–Kohsar Innovation Park (WaKIP) at the Vice Chancellor Secretariat, Kohsar University Murree. The plaque unveiling was performed by Muhammad Ahsan Tahir, CEO Walee Technologies, marking the beginning of a transformative initiative aimed at fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, research commercialization, and technology-based enterprises. The unique and visionary concept of the Walee–Kohsar Innovation Park is the brainchild of Prof. Dr. Rafia Mumtaz (Pride of Performance), Vice Chancellor, Kohsar University Murree, who envisioned creating a dedicated platform where students’ skills, innovative ideas, research, and entrepreneurial potential could be transformed into tangible opportunities and sustainable enterprises. WaKIP represents the next major milestone in the strategic partnership between Kohsar University Murree and Walee Technologies, building upon the establishment of the Professional Skill Development Center. While the Center focuses on equipping students with industry-relevant skills and professional competencies, the Innovation Park is envisioned as an ecosystem where these skills can be transformed into innovative ideas, prototypes, startups, and sustainable businesses. The proposed Innovation Park will comprise an Innovation Hub, Venture Studio, and Digital Innovation Lab. It will bring together students, faculty, startups, industry partners, and investors under one platform to encourage collaboration, creativity, research, and commercialization. The inauguration of WaKIP marks a visionary step toward positioning Kohsar University Murree as a regional hub for innovation, entrepreneurship, technology, and university–industry collaboration, with the potential to create new opportunities for students, young entrepreneurs, and the wider socio-economic development of the Murree region. From the visionary idea of Prof. Dr. Rafia Mumtaz to a powerful university–industry partnership, WaKIP represents a bold step toward transforming talent into innovation and innovation into enterprise.

Kohsar University Murree has inaugurated its Professional Skills Development Center, established through a landmark collaborative initiative with Walee Technologies (Pvt.) Ltd. at an estimated cost of Rs. 30 million. Vice Chancellor Kohsar University Murree, Professor Dr. Rafia Mumtaz (Pride of Performance), has spearheaded this pioneering initiative, making the Center the first of its kind in the region and a distinctive endeavor among public-sector universities. The initiative marks a significant milestone in strengthening industry-academia linkages and equipping students with contemporary professional, technical, and practical skills aligned with the evolving demands of the job market. The Center will provide students with enhanced opportunities for experiential learning, professional development, and industry-oriented skills acquisition. The Center was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Lt. Gen. (R) Rizwan Akhtar, H.St., HI(M), along with the Secretary HED, Mr. Ghulam Farid. The Chief Guest and Secretary HED highly appreciated the visionary initiatives undertaken by the young Vice Chancellor within a short span of time and extended their best wishes for the continued progress and success of the University. The establishment of the Professional Skills Development Center represents a significant milestone in Kohsar University Murree’s journey toward fostering innovation, professional excellence, industry collaboration, and quality education, further strengthening its role in preparing students for meaningful careers and the future workforce.

Kohsar University Murree celebrated the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan with great enthusiasm, national spirit, and patriotic fervor. The celebration was organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs, Kohsar University Murree, led by Dr. Sumaira Maqsood, in collaboration with the Youth Empowerment Club under the directions and guidance of the worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Rafia Mumtaz (Pride of Performance), Vice Chancellor, Kohsar University Murree. The Independence Day celebration was held at the Admin Block of Kohsar University Murree and brought together students, faculty members, and the university community to commemorate the historic occasion and pay tribute to the sacrifices of those who struggled for the freedom of Pakistan. The event reflected the theme of freedom, unity, and national pride, providing students with an opportunity to express their love for the country and demonstrate their talents through a variety of engaging activities. The program featured patriotic speeches, national and patriotic performances, the National Anthem, competitions, and awards, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and national solidarity across the university. Students actively participated in the activities and expressed their patriotic spirit through inspiring presentations and performances. The program also highlighted the importance of unity, discipline, dedication, and collective responsibility in shaping a prosperous and progressive Pakistan. Kohsar University Murree has further strengthened its international academic presence by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil, one of the country’s leading public research universities. The MoU was signed online by Vice Chancellor, Kohsar University Murree, Prof. Dr. Rafia Mumtaz (Pride of Performance) and Prof. Euclydes Marega Junior of the University of São Paulo. The partnership will facilitate joint research initiatives, faculty and student exchanges, shared academic courses, scholarly publications, knowledge sharing, and international research opportunities. The two institutions also explored the potential for jointly funded research projects through FAPESP, the research funding agency of São Paulo State. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Rafia Mumtaz (Pride of Performance) highlighted Kohsar University strengths in tourism and hospitality management, forestry, environmental sciences, food science and technology, and emerging technologies, identifying these fields as promising areas for future academic and research collaboration. Prof. Euclydes Marega Junior welcomed the partnership and emphasized the opportunities it presents for joint research, student mobility, faculty interaction, and academic exchange between Brazil and Pakistan.

This is a significant achievement for Kohsar University Murree, reflecting their dedication and commitment to quality research and strengthening the University’s research culture. Kohsar University Murree commemorated Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir at its Jhika Gali Campus to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir. The ceremony was organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs led by Dr. Sumaira Maqsood, in accordance with the directions of the worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Rafia Mumtaz (Pride of Performance). Faculty members, administrative staff, and students participated enthusiastically, demonstrating unity and patriotism. Addressing the gathering, the Campus In-Charge highlighted the significance of the day, urging students to promote the values of peace, justice, and human dignity while remaining informed about the challenges faced by the people of Kashmir. The ceremony concluded with special prayers for peace, prosperity, and the well-being of the people of Kashmir.
