PEF is the successful educational model for low income families. Promotion of education is the priority agenda of the punjab government and its good to see that PEF is playing an important role in this vital crusade so that every child could make it to a school and improve the quality of life through education.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan said this while presiding over an important meeting at PEF head office on Saturday. Chairman PEF Engr. Qamar ul Islam Raja, Managing Director Tariq Mahmood, besides DMD (Ops) Tariq Rafiq, DMD (F) Kamran Hafeez, Fasieh Mehta (Joint Director EGS) Punjab Information Technology Board, representative of Punjab Information Department and PEF program directors were also present.
Rana Mashhood said that 27 percent of the total provincial budget is earmarked for the education sector alone, adding that this proves our strong commitment towards this vital sector, as education is the basis of national development. No nation can progress in this fast changing world without a vibrant and efficient education system that could best educate and produce finest minds to steer the country towards progress and prosperity, he added. Punjab has emerged as the epicenter of quality education in the country due to the far-reaching reforms introduced by the visionary chief minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.
While appreciating the educational role of the punjab education foundation, he said that this foundation has emerged as the most successful model which has benefited the lower echelons of the society through its beneficial interventions. It is good to note that educational models of the PEF are efficient, cost effective and result oriented to serve the masses. PEF has encouraged the private entrepreneurs to set up educational institutions in the remote areas and educate the masses through funding provided by the foundation. This has also helped the needy girls to study in nearby schools who couldn't go afar due to lack of resources. He also commended the PEF communication department for their robust presence on social media for wider sensitization.
Earlier, Chairman PEF Qamar ul Islam and MD Tariq Mahmood informed the participants about various initiatives taken by this foundation for the promotion of education in the indigent strata.
