ππ§ͺ Alhamdulillah, the Final Year Research Poster Showcase 2021β2026 organized by the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan was successfully conducted with great enthusiasm, innovation, and academic spirit.
A total of 169 final year Pharm.D students participated in this academic initiative, while 60 students were shortlisted through an online registration process and divided into 18 research groups. The students worked continuously for nearly two months on modern pharmaceutical and computational research projects covering areas including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Molecular Docking, Drug Design, ADMET Analysis, QSAR Modeling, Virtual Screening, Anticancer Research, Antimicrobial Drug Design, and Computational Medicinal Chemistry.
The event was graced by the presence of respected guests including:

All participating groups demonstrated remarkable dedication, scientific understanding, teamwork, and presentation skills. Considering the equal contribution and outstanding efforts of every group, all 18 groups were collectively awarded First Position certificates in appreciation of their hard work and commitment toward research and learning.
Special thanks to all organizers, supporting staff, media team, volunteers, visitors, and Final Professional students (Session 2021β2026) for making this event successful, inspiring, and memorable.

Celebrating MPhil Research Excellence (Session 2024β2026)
I am delighted to share the successful completion of MPhil research by my dedicated scholars at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, BZU, under the inspiring leadership of Dean Prof. Dr. Samina Afzal.
This cohort demonstrated exceptional performance by integrating modern Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) pipelines in drug design, leading to the identification and optimization of multiple promising lead compounds against selected biological targets. Their work reflects the future of smart, data-driven pharmaceutical research.

The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy conducted an orientation session for newly admitted MPhil Pharmaceutical Chemistry (2026β2028) scholars, chaired by Prof. Dr. Samina Afzal, Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy and Chairperson, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
The session began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a warm welcome. Prof. Dr. Samina Afzal praised the enthusiasm and academic potential of the new scholars, encouraging them to actively engage in Natural Product Chemistry, Drug Design, and Computational Modeling. She also highlighted the importance of high-quality publications and winning competitive research projects for a successful research career.
The program included a brief departmental tour, introduction to research facilities, and overview of course outlines.
Dr. Farhan Siddique, along with visiting faculty Dr. Imran Ahmad and Dr. Sumaira Nadeem, was also present.

On Friday, 23rd January, a team from the Pharmacy Council of Pakistan visited the Faculty of Pharmacy, Bahauddin Zakaria University.
The visiting team was warmly received by Dean Prof. Dr. Samina Afzal, along with all chairpersons and faculty members. The delegation was given a comprehensive tour of the faculty and its facilities, where they inspected academic departments, laboratories, research infrastructure, and teaching resources. The visit aimed to review academic standards, facilities, and ongoing activities in line with professional and regulatory requirements.

The event was efficiently organized by the Pharmacy Executive Club (PEC) members and students under the esteemed umbrella of the Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, and the Director Student Affairs (DSA).
Degrees were graciously awarded by the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Zubair Iqbal (Vice Chancellor, BZU), along with the Dean and the Registrar, BZU, marking a proud academic milestone for the graduating students.

Learning SAR in pharmacy is never simple β but Batch 2021β2026 (Morning & Evening class) transformed this challenging subject into an engaging, vibrant, and creative learning experience.
Under the esteemed guidance of our Honorable Dean, Prof. Dr. Samina Afzal, our final-year students showcased exceptional enthusiasm and innovation.
Prof. Dr. Samina Afzal personally visited each group, reviewed their charts, appreciated their hard work, and encouraged their creative approach to understanding Medicinal Chemistry. Her presence and motivating words truly elevated the spirit of the entire class.
From heterocycles illustrated with clarity to fun, imaginative doodles; from serious scientific concepts to colorful, well-crafted presentations β our students proved that learning can be both intellectually strong and wonderfully enjoyable.

Official Launch of Pharmaceutical Chemistry Lab Manuals
Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry/Faculty of Pharmacy is proud to announce the official launch of two comprehensive laboratory manuals, pivotal for the academic success of our Pharm.D. First Professional Year students.
The manuals, authored by the esteemed Prof. Dr. Samina Afzal, Dean Faculty of Pharmacy and Chairperson Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, cover the core subjects:
1. Pharmaceutical Chemistry I (Organic Chemistry)
2. Pharmaceutical Chemistry II (Biochemistry)
These manuals are designed to serve as the backbone of practical learning in these fundamental subjects. Prof. Dr. Samina Afzal highlighted the critical importance of hands-on experience, noting that the content innovatively covers all major aspects of the practical syllabus. The initiative aims to equip students with essential practical skills using innovative methodologies.
The manuals were formally distributed to the students, marking a significant step towards enhancing the quality of pharmaceutical education.

We are pleased to share highlights from a recent industrial and recreational trip undertaken by the Faculty of Pharmacy & Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Under the supervision of our esteemed Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy and Chairperson of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Prof. Dr. Samina Afzal, our postgraduate scholars visited Lord Pharma, Layyah.
The visit provided our scholars with a fantastic opportunity to witness industrial collaborations firsthand. The team gained valuable awareness regarding a series of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the administration and staff at Lord Pharma for being such welcoming hosts and facilitating this educational tour.
To conclude a productive day, the team enjoyed a refreshing visit to Jeep Rally, taking in the beautiful sights and enjoying some well-deserved downtime.
