If they’re just pouring feed without observing, sticking to fixed amounts, and ignoring how the fish respond... that’s a big red flag. Then look at the water. Within days, you’ll notice if it gets cloudy too fast, if a smell starts early, or foam builds up. That tells you control was poor from the start. Fish behavior matters too. Healthy fingerlings are active, responsive, and feed well. But if you see slow movement, scattered swimming, or weak feeding, something is already off. Overcrowding from day one is another sign—trying to “manage it later” usually means later never comes. And if you ask how much they’ve fed so far and they don’t know, that farm is running on vibes, not records. Worst of all is delayed action: “Let’s watch it first,” or “It’ll correct itself.” By the time problems become obvious, the damage is already done.
