What is a pronoun?

"A pronoun is a word that is used instead of a noun or noun phrase." Pronouns refer to either a noun that has already been mentioned or to a noun that does not need to be named specifically.

Pronoun examples

The following examples show how we use pronouns in sentences.

We looked for Britney at her house, but she wasn’t there.

I took my bike to the mechanic to get it fixed.

This is the best birthday ever!

Someone donated 1000 rupees to our charity.

Andy thinks that mayonnaise goes well with anything.

(We,she,I,it,this,someone ,anything) are pronouns.

What is a noun?

Nouns make up the largest class of words in most languages, including English. A noun is a word that refers to a thing (book), a person (Betty Crocker), an animal (cat), a place (Omaha), a quality (softness), an idea (justice), or an action (yodeling). It's usually a single word, but not always: cake, shoes, school are all nouns.
Example:
1) The boy and girl were holding hands as they crossed the bridge on the way to town.

2) John loves watching the cat playing with the pink yarn.

3) Visiting Big Ben was a highlight of the trip to England.
So in the above examples nouns are
Boy,girl ,hands,bridge,way,town,John,cat,yarn,Big Ben,England.

There are eight parts of speech in the English language: noun, pronoun, verb, adjective, adverb, preposition, conjunction, and interjection. The part of speech indicates how the word functions in meaning as well as grammatically within the sentence.
