AWKUM proudly celebrates another landmark research achievement

Dr. Tahir Hussain, Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology, has been awarded a prestigious international collaborative research project in Partnership with Washington University, USA, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), USA.
As Principal Investigator from Pakistan, Dr. Tahir Hussain will lead Pakistan-based research activities. The project employs bacterial genomics approaches, including high-resolution phylogenomics and mobilomics, to better understand the emergence, evolution, and dissemination of antibiotic-resistant genes in bacterial communities in Pakistani hospitals. Antimicrobial resistance is one of the most pressing global public health challenges
The project brings USD 50,000 in international research funding to AWKUM, strengthening the University’s research capacity, promoting scientific innovation, and fostering international collaboration with leading global institutions.
This achievement reflects AWKUM’s commitment to research excellence and its growing recognition as a contributor to high-impact international research addressing critical global health challenges.

Bio Bridge Student Society successfully organized an Orientation Seminar on “Mastering Academic Reading – From Abstract to Conclusion” at .

The session, delivered by Dr. Saghir Ahmad, focused on enhancing academic reading, research interpretation, and scientific understanding through the case study of Staphylococcus epidermidis.
