1. Graduate Visa (PSW) – Getting Shorter
• The current 2-year post-study visa will now be cut to 18 months.
• Graduates will only be allowed to do certain kinds of jobs, not just anything.

2. Skilled Worker Visa – Tougher Rules
• Low-skill jobs (below degree level) will no longer qualify.
• A Temporary Shortage List will decide which jobs are in demand, but only a few sectors will be on it.
• If you’re already in the UK with a skilled visa, you can switch jobs or extend your visa.
• New applicants will face stricter rules.
• Employers must first train local UK workers before hiring from abroad.
• Care workers: The UK is stopping overseas hiring for this role.

3. Permanent Residency (ILR) – More Years Required
• To settle in the UK, most people will now need to stay 10 years instead of 5.
• Some highly skilled or high-contribution people may still settle sooner.
• The Life in the UK Test and English test are being updated too.

• You’ll need better English to apply for visas, especially for extensions and settlement.
• Even adult dependents may have to take English tests.
