*Topic: Is Nationalism a Force of Unity or a Source of Conflict?*

The Department of Political Science & International Relations, Hazara University (DPSIR-HU), organized an intellectually stimulating debate session on the theme “Is Nationalism a Force of Unity or a Source of Conflict?” under the banner of the Debating Society.
The session brought together diverse perspectives on one of the most debated concepts in political theory and international relations, encouraging critical thinking and constructive dialogue among students.
Two teams presented opposing viewpoints:

*TEAM 1*
*Position:* Nationalism as a Force of Unity
*Speakers:* Muhammad Ashraf, Ahmad Shehzad, Yaseen
TEAM 1 argued that nationalism plays a vital role in strengthening national identity, fostering unity, and building collective pride. They highlighted how nationalism has historically united societies during times of crisis, anti-colonial struggles, and nation-building processes, motivating citizens to work collectively for national development and progress.

*TEAM 2*
*Position:* Nationalism as a Source of Conflict
*Speakers:* Hoorain, Zanib Ali, Syed Alam Shah

TEAM 2 countered by asserting that nationalism often becomes a catalyst for intolerance, exclusion, and hostility toward other groups and nations. They emphasized that excessive or aggressive nationalism can fuel discrimination, internal divisions, violence, and international conflicts, undermining peace and coexistence.

Both teams engaged in rigorous and respectful argumentation, supporting their positions with logical reasoning, historical references, and real-world examples. The debate created an intellectually rich environment that challenged participants and the audience alike to critically evaluate the dual nature of nationalism.

پشتون قومی تحریک کے عظیم رہنما خان شہید عبدالصمد خان اچکزئی کے اعزاز میں ہزارہ یونیورسٹی مانسہرہ میں ایک سیمینار منعقد کیا گیا۔ اس سیمینار میں مختلف مکاتبِ فکر سے تعلق رکھنے والے افراد نے شرکت کی، جن میں یونیورسٹی کے طلبہ کی بڑی تعداد شامل تھی۔

سیمینار سے پشتونخوا ملی عوامی پارٹی خیبر پشتونخوا کے صوبائی ڈپٹی سیکریٹری زاہد خان تورغر، صوبائی نائب صدر میر کلام خان وزیر، ایاز خان اچکزئی، صوبائی صدر ڈاکٹر مامد علی اور شعبۂ سیاسیات و بین الاقوامی تعلقات کے چیرپرسن ڈاکٹر عادل سیماب صاحب نے خطاب فرمایا۔ مقررین نے خان شہید عبدالصمد خان اچکزئی کی زندگی، سیاسی جدوجہد اور قومی خدمات پر تفصیل سے روشنی ڈالی اور ان کے افکار و فلسفے کا موجودہ دور کے تناظر میں جائزہ پیش کیا۔

سیمینار کے اختتام پر خان شہید عبدالصمد خان اچکزئی کی کتاب "My Life and Times" اور 1956 لاہور ہائیکورٹ کی عدالتی بیان کی کاپیاں فیکلٹی ممبران اور طلبہ میں تقسیم کی گئی،

✨ Event Highlights | Seminar on “Generative AI and Its Impacts on Society” ✨
The Literary and Debating Society of the Department of Political Science and International Relations (DPSIR), Hazara University successfully organized an insightful and thought-provoking seminar on “Generative AI and Its Impacts on Society.”
The session featured Muhammad Asim Muneeb, an esteemed alumnus of Hazara University, who holds a Master’s degree from Hochschule für Technik Stuttgart, Germany, and is currently serving as a Full-Stack Software Engineer at Accenture. His presence added immense value to the discussion, bridging the gap between technology, academia, and real-world industry experience.
The seminar provided a comprehensive understanding of Generative Artificial Intelligence, its rapidly evolving applications, ethical considerations, societal implications, and its influence on future governance, education, employment, and global power structures. Students actively engaged in discussions, asked insightful questions, and explored how AI intersects with political science, international relations, and emerging technologies.
We are grateful for the enthusiastic participation of students from DPSIR as well as from the AI, Computer Science, and IT departments, whose engagement made the session interactive and impactful. Events like these reflect our commitment to fostering interdisciplinary learning, critical thinking, and awareness of emerging global trends.
A heartfelt thanks to our speaker, organizers, faculty, and participants for making this seminar a successful and memorable learning experience. We look forward to organizing more such knowledge-driven sessions in the future.

*International Day of Human Rights | Dec 10, 2025*

On the occasion of international human rights day the literary Society department of Political Science and International Relations Hazara University will be organising a seminar to celebrate it on Dec 10, 2025, at department of Political Science and International Relations.

The seminar will feature Mr. Reza Khan Tanoli from Human Rights Comission of Pakistan and Mr. Amir Hazarvi from SEEK.

The Department of Political Science and International Relations, Hazara University Mansehra, recently hosted a ceremony to celebrate the achievements of its students who completed their internships and to launch its policy paper on reforming exam evaluation in Political Science and International Relations.

The event was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including the Vice Chancellor of Hazara University, Professor Dr. Ikramullah Khan, the Dean of Social Sciences, Professor Dr. Nasiruddin, and the Chairperson of the Department of Political Science and International Relations, Dr. Adil Khan.

The ceremony featured discussions on the internship program, the policy paper, and the importance of co-curricular activities in the department. The guests also distributed certificates to the members of the Executive Council and the internship students.

The event was a testament to the department's commitment to academic excellence and its efforts to provide students with opportunities to gain practical experience in their field of study. The policy paper on reforming exam evaluation is a significant milestone in the department's efforts to improve its academic programs.

We congratulate the students who completed their internships and thank the faculty members and guests for their support and encouragement.
