LAHORE: In celebration of International Youth Day and Independence Day, the Department of Social Work, University of the Punjab, organized a special green drive under the banner "Green Youth – Green Pakistan," emphasizing the vital role of Green Social Work in combating environmental challenges.
The initiative was organized by the Student Volunteer Society in collaboration with Lahore Digital Development Lab. The event brought together faculty, youth leaders, and student volunteers to actively promote environmental sustainability and eco-conscious community practice.
The program was held under the leadership of Chairperson Dr. Tahira Jabeen and committee leads including Prof. Dr. Uzma Ashiq, Dr. Aliya Khalid, Dr. Muhamamd Arshad Abbasi and attended by our special guests Ms. Zaib Waseem and Ms. Abida Kashif.
During the event, organizers highlighted that Green Social Work connects environmental protection with human well-being, empowering youth to take ownership of climate action in their communities.
Special recognition was extended to student organizers Messam Tammar, Shabeena Jahan, Saad Hussain, and Mohsin Khan for coordinating the event.
The drive concluded with a pledge by youth volunteers to continue leading green initiatives across Punjab.

شعبۂ سوشل ورک، جامعہ پنجاب، لاہور، اپنے ممتاز سابق طالب علم ملک شوکت فیروز اعوان، ڈپٹی انسپکٹر جنرل (ڈی آئی جی) جیل خانہ جات، پنجاب کا تہہ دل سے شکریہ ادا کرتا ہے، جنہوں نے اپنے ادارۂ مادرِ علمی (Alma Mater) کو جدید پیشہ ورانہ ساؤنڈ سسٹم بمعہ تمام ضروری آلات کا قیمتی تحفہ پیش کیا۔

یہ قیمتی عطیہ پہلے ہی شعبے کی تدریسی اور تربیتی سرگرمیوں میں مثبت اور مؤثر کردار ادا کر رہا ہے۔ بالخصوص جاری ایک ماہ پر مشتمل سرٹیفکیٹ کورس برائے این جی او مینجمنٹ اینڈ لیڈرشپ کے دوران اس جدید ساؤنڈ سسٹم نے مقررین کو اپنی پیشکش مؤثر انداز میں پیش کرنے اور شرکاء کو واضح، باوقار اور معیاری تعلیمی ماحول فراہم کرنے میں نمایاں مدد دی ہے۔

ملک شوکت فیروز اعوان کی یہ فراخدلانہ کاوش اپنے مادرِ علمی سے محبت، وابستگی اور ذمہ داری کے اعلیٰ جذبے کی عکاس ہے۔ یہ اقدام اس بات کی خوبصورت مثال ہے کہ سابق طلبہ اپنی جامعہ سے مضبوط تعلق برقرار رکھتے ہوئے آنے والی نسلوں کی تعلیم، تربیت اور پیشہ ورانہ ترقی میں کس قدر اہم کردار ادا کر سکتے ہیں۔

شعبۂ سوشل ورک کو امید ہے کہ ان کا یہ قابلِ تقلید عمل دیگر سابق طلبہ کے لیے بھی باعثِ ترغیب بنے گا اور وہ بھی اپنی جامعہ کی ترقی، علمی سرگرمیوں اور طلبہ کی پیشہ ورانہ تربیت میں بھرپور تعاون کریں گے۔

LAHORE — The Special Education In-Service Training College successfully organized a specialized lecture on July 31, 2026, focusing on the critical role of education professionals in safeguarding children's rights and ensuring child protection.

The session, titled "Child Protection: The Role of Education Professionals in Protecting Children's Rights," featured key guest speaker Dr. Muhammad Arshad Abbasi, who delivered a comprehensive presentation on child welfare strategies, legal rights, and actionable protection frameworks.

Key Highlights of the Lecture

Role of Education Professionals: Educators and academic staff serve as vital frontline advocates in detecting early signs of neglect, abuse, or distress among students.

Child Rights Framework: Grounded in the core message "Every Child, Every Right, Every Educator," the presentation highlighted the need for seamless collaboration between academic institutions and child welfare services.

Proactive Interventions: Participants were provided practical guidance on creating safe learning spaces, recognizing warning indicators, and following structured referral pathways to child protection authorities.

The event concluded with an interactive session emphasizing that educators play an indispensable role in upholding the fundamental rights, dignity, and safety of all children.
