Request for Reforms in Sindh Job Portal (SJP) Recruitment Process
The Sindh Job Portal (SJP) was introduced with the objective of ensuring merit, transparency, and efficiency in government recruitment through a centralized online system.
It was also expected to reduce unnecessary delays and complete recruitments within a reasonable timeframe.
While the portal has undoubtedly created opportunities and appears to be selecting candidates on merit, the process itself remains largely hidden from applicants. Merit should not only be ensured but should also be visibly demonstrated through transparent procedures.
At present, candidates often remain unaware of how shortlisting is conducted, why applications are rejected, and where they stand in the recruitment process.
Similarly, one of the key promises of an online recruitment system was faster hiring. Unfortunately, many recruitments continue to face delays similar to those witnessed under the previous manual systems, with interview results remaining pending for months.
To further strengthen transparency, accountability, and public confidence in the system, we respectfully request the Sindh Government, Sindh Chief Minister House, Sindh Job Portal, and all concerned departments to consider the following reforms:
1. Publication of Three Separate Lists
β’ Shortlisted Candidates List
β’ Selected Candidates List
β’ Waiting List
These lists are essential for transparency.
This will allow candidates to clearly understand their status.
2. Conduct Interviews at Divisional Level
All Interviews are being conducted in Karachi and Traveling to Karachi for every interview is financially and logistically difficult for many candidates. Interviews should be conducted at divisional headquarters to facilitate applicants from all regions of Sindh.
3. Mention Rejection Reasons
Candidates whose applications are rejected during screening or shortlisting should be informed of the reason for rejection. Not mentioning the reasons for rejection creates unnecessary stress for candidates.
This will improve accountability and help candidates address deficiencies in future applications.
4. Timely Announcement of Interview Results
Dozens of interviews were conducted in March, but even after more than three months, most of the results have not been announced.
Interview results should be announced within a defined timeframe. Delays of several months create uncertainty and unnecessary stress for candidates.
5. Collective Interviews for Similar Posts
Hundreds of Junior Clerk posts are announced by various departments, and for all Junior Clerk posts, separate shortlisting and interviews are conducted. This creates a burden on both candidates and departments, as the same candidates are being shortlisted repeatedly.
For posts with identical eligibility criteria across different departments (e.g., Junior Clerk), a collective interview mechanism should be introduced.
This would save time, reduce costs, and ensure that more candidates are accommodated efficiently.
6. Mandatory Advertisement of All BPS-05 to BPS-15 Posts on SJP
All vacancies from BPS-05 to BPS-15 should be advertised through the Sindh Job Portal, including positions such as Constables in the Prison Department and similar posts in other departments.
7. Provide Updates on Previously Advertised Posts
Departments should update regarding the advertisements announced in previous years, such as UC Secretary vacancies advertised in 2023, so that applicants are not left in uncertainty.
These reforms are not demands against the Sindh Job Portal; rather, they are recommendations to make the system more transparent, efficient, candidate-friendly, and trustworthy.
Implementing these measures will strengthen public confidence and further promote merit-based recruitment across Sindh.
