"Farmer Vs Environmentalist- Mini Role Play”

The Department of Botany has organized an educational activity titled "Farmer vs Environmentalist - Mini Role Play: for the course of Environmental Pollution in Ecosystem and its Bioremediation" on Tuesday September 17, 2026, Organized byDr. Sheza Ayaz.
The activity was presented by the students of MS Botany 1st Semester. The main objective of the activity was to highlight the serious issue of soil pollution caused by industrial waste and heavy metals, especially in rice fields, and to explain its eco-friendly solution through Bioremediation.
The story was presented in the form of a short tableau "The Sad Rice Field" with five main characters:
1. The Farmer
2. The Environmentalist
3. The Environmental Scientist
4. The EPA Officer
5. The Government Officer
6. Local community
Through their dialogue, the students explained how factory drain water causes heavy metal pollution (Arsenic, Cadmium, Lead), how EPA monitors and sets safe limits, and how the Government helps farmers with phytoremediation plants, bio-fertilizers and subsidy schemes to restore healthy soil.
The activity was concluded in the form of message "Healthy Soil, Healthy Food, Healthy Pakistan." Best Mini Role Player Certificate was awarded to the farmer (Amina Yasin).
While e- certificates will be presented to all the participants.

☀️ **Solar Training & Energy Roadshow 2026**
The Department of Physics, Division of Science and Technology, University of Education Lahore, successfully organized the **Solar Training & Energy Roadshow 2026**, led by **Dr. Hamza Naeem**, providing students with practical exposure to solar-energy technologies and their applications.
The event was graced by **Prof. Dr. Aqif Anwar Chaudhry, Vice Chancellor, University of Education Lahore**, and **Prof. Dr. Shagufta Andleeb, Director DSNT**, along with faculty, students, industry representatives, and Chinese technical experts.
The Vice Chancellor appreciated the **Department of Physics and HOD, Dr. Faheem K. Butt**, as well as the **Director DSNT, Prof. Dr. Shagufta Andleeb**, for organizing a relevant and impactful program for Science & Technology students and for strengthening **industry–academia linkages**.
🤝 The event also featured the signing of an **MoU between University of Education Lahore and SunRay Green Technology**, aimed at promoting student internships, technical training, research collaboration, projects, and professional opportunities in the renewable-energy sector.

The Department of Chemistry, DSNT, University of Education, organized a seminar titled “Fulbright Scholarship: Comprehensive Guidance for Master’s and PhD Aspirants” on September 17, 2026, organized by Dr. Muhammad Ahmad (Assistant Professor). Around 35 students actively participated, engaging in a lively Q&A session focused on higher education and research opportunities in the United States. The Department of Zoology organized an interactive seminar on "Synopsis/Thesis Write-up for MS Students" from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, moderated by Dr. Zawar Hussain. The session guided students through essential research components—including problem identification, methodology, and referencing—in line with the University of Education's approved manual. Students actively engaged by raising questions on plagiarism and thesis organization, resulting in a practical session that significantly enhanced their academic writing skills.

The University of Education, Lahore proudly congratulates Talha Amjad, a 7th-semester BS Computer Science student from the Department of Information Sciences, Division of Science and Technology, on his selection as an LFX Mentee for LFX Mentorship 2026 – Term 3.
Talha has been selected to contribute to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) Volcano Project on:
“Generic xPU Topology-Aware Scheduling”
LFX Mentorship, an initiative of The Linux Foundation, connects emerging open-source contributors with globally recognized projects and communities, providing them with the opportunity to work on real-world technologies alongside experienced mentors.
This achievement is particularly significant as 59 CNCF projects were part of LFX Mentorship Term 3, and only 2 mentees from Pakistan were selected, with Talha being one of them. He also became the first student from the University of Education to be selected for the LFX Mentorship Program.
The University proudly celebrates this milestone and wishes Talha continued success as he represents the Department of Information Sciences, Division of Science & Technology, University of Education, Lahore in the global open-source community.
