Notice on the Recruitment of New Local Chinese Language Teachers for Confucius Institute at University of the Punjab in 2026
In order to promote the high-quality and sustainable development of international Chinese language education, support the training of local Chinese language teachers, and meet the growing demand for teaching staff in Confucius Institute at University of the Punjab(CIPU), the application process for employment of new local Chinese language teachers for the year 2026 is hereby launched.
1. Eligibility
1.1 Nationality or residency requirement
Applicants must be nationals of the host country or hold permanent residency rights in the host country.
1.2 Educational background and teaching experience
A bachelor’s degree or higher is required.
·Applicants with a bachelor’s degree must have at least three academic years of Chinese language teaching experience.
·Applicants with a postgraduate degree in International Chinese Language Education, Chinese Language, Education, History, or other humanities and social sciences must have at least one academic year of Chinese language teaching experience.
·Applicants with a non-humanities and social sciences postgraduate degree must have no less than two academic years of Chinese language teaching experience.
1.3 Language proficiency
·For non-native Chinese speakers: Chinese proficiency must reach HSK Level 5 with a score of 180 or above, and HSKK Intermediate with a score of 60 or above.
·For native Chinese speakers: At least two years of Chinese teaching experience are required.
1.4 Teaching certificate requirement
·Holders of the "International Chinese Language Teacher Certificate" issued by Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) will be given priority.
·If an applicant does not hold above the certificate at the time of recruitment, they must obtain it within the first contract year; otherwise, their employment will not be renewed.
1.5 Workload for full-time local teachers
Full-time teachers are required to work at least 40 hours per week, which includes:
·No less than 15 class hours of Chinese teaching per week (each class hour = 45 minutes);
·Related administrative duties, such as promoting Chinese culture and organizing HSK tests, etc.

The newly appointed Chinese Consul General Lahore Mr. Sun Yan called on the vice Chancellor PU Prof Dr Muhammad Ali in his office. Proposals for mutual academic collaboration were discussed at length. Also the 75 years of diplomatic relations between china and Pakistan was celebrated.

Test Date:: November 15, 2025.
Registration Deadline: October 17, 2025 (Friday) by 4:00 p.m.

1. Register online at chinesetest.cn.
2. For HSK/HSKK tests, apply online and print your application (separate applications for HSK and HSKK if applying for both).
3. Attach 1 recent passport-size photo.
4. Provide a copy of your CNIC/Passport (the one used during registration).
5. *Submit the fee at the CIPU Admin Office.*
Ensure all required documents and fees are submitted to the CIPU Admin Office before 4:00 p.m. on 17 October 2025.

Host Director Confucius Institute Prof Dr. Sobia Khurram joined the YCT-1 Certificate Distribution Ceremony at Crescent Model Higher Secondary School. Confucius Institute, for the first time, conducted the YCT-1 exam for almost 300 students of the school as a CTI recognized center.
