The Global Dialogue on Research 2026 was jointly organized by the Department of Information Management, The University of Lahore, and the Department of Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus. The dialogue was moderated by Ms. Rimsha Qayyum, who facilitated the proceedings, introduced the distinguished speakers, and coordinated participant engagement throughout the dialogue. The international event brought together renowned scholars and researchers from across the globe to discuss opportunities for strengthening international research collaboration, scholarly networking, and equitable knowledge exchange.
The program commenced with ๐๐ซ. ๐๐ฎ๐ก๐๐ฆ๐ฆ๐๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐ช, Head of Library Information Services at COMSATS University Lahore, introduces the objectives of the Global Dialogue and highlights the significance of international collaboration in advancing research and innovation.
๐๐ซ๐จ๐. ๐๐ซ. ๐๐ก๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฒ๐ ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐๐ง๐ข, Head of Academics at COMSATS University Lahore, who delivered the welcome address, emphasized the importance of ethical scholarship, sustainability, and global academic partnerships.
The keynote session began with ๐๐ฌ. ๐๐จ๐ฑ๐๐ง๐ง๐ ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ก๐๐ฆ (๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐), who explored global challenges and emerging opportunities in research support beyond geographical boundaries, highlighting the evolving role of libraries in international scholarship.
๐๐ซ๐จ๐. ๐๐ซ. ๐๐ง๐ฐ๐๐ซ-๐ฎ๐ฅ ๐๐ฌ๐ฅ๐๐ฆ (๐๐๐ง๐ ๐ฅ๐๐๐๐ฌ๐ก), Professor at the University of Dhaka, discussed how international research collaboration strengthens scholarly publications through his personal insights and experience. Representing Sri Lanka, ๐๐ซ๐จ๐. ๐๐ซ. ๐๐ฎ๐ฐ๐๐ง ๐๐๐ฆ๐๐ ๐ examined the role of professional associations in promoting cross-border research collaboration and fostering innovation through international networks.
๐๐ฌ. ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฐ๐ข๐ซ๐ (๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ก ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐), Country Lead at Research4Life Country Connectors, discussed international collaboration opportunities, emphasizing inclusive participation and partnerships to empower underrepresented research communities.
From ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ฒ๐ฌ๐ข๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ก๐ข๐ง๐, ๐๐ฌ. ๐๐ก๐จ๐ฎ ๐๐จ๐ง๐ ๐ฅ๐ข, shared insights on co-constructing scholarly knowledge through international collaboration, with particular attention to health literacy and equitable access to information.
The final keynote was delivered by ๐๐ซ. ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ข๐ ๐๐๐ค๐๐จ๐ค๐ (๐๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ญ๐ก๐๐ซ๐ฅ๐๐ง๐๐ฌ), Postdoctoral Researcher at Erasmus University Rotterdam, who highlighted the importance of ethical AI, energy justice, and inclusive technology design in addressing global challenges through collaborative research.
