A Milestone in Student Guidance at FCCU:
The Faculty Advising Office organized the 14th Annual Advising Fair on May 7, 2026, in the Multipurpose Hall (2nd Floor), Jim Tebbe Campus Center (JTCC) for Counselling, Advising, and guiding in Meaningful Academic Plans and Career Development. The event holds historic significance as it was the first Advising Fair ever hosted inside the Multipurpose Hall, setting a new precedent for future student-centered academic engagements at FCCU.
Held under the theme, “Faculty Advising in the Changing World – Artificial Intelligence, Advising and Counselling, New Policies and Our Responsibilities,” the fair provided an exceptional platform for students to explore their academic pathways and future career opportunities. Designed to strengthen informed decision-making, the event reflected FCCU’s enduring commitment to student success, academic excellence, and holistic development.
The Advising Fair brought together Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors in a vibrant and interactive learning environment where students engaged directly with faculty advisors, departmental representatives, and support offices. Departmental Information Desks offered comprehensive guidance on majors and minors, academic roadmaps, degree audits, career prospects, and higher education opportunities. The presence of the AAC Degree Audit Corner, Career Services, International Education Office, UNIV100 Advisors/Advisees, and the Writing Centre further enriched the advising experience, making it a collaborative, informative, and student-focused event.
A notable highlight of this year’s fair was the addition of the Centre for Public Policy & Governance, the Department of Global Languages & Cultures, the Department of Visual & Performing Arts, and the Academic Office, expanding the range of academic resources available under one roof. Departments enthusiastically showcased their programs, with particular excitement surrounding newly introduced majors and minors, reflecting FCCU’s evolving academic vision and responsiveness to contemporary educational needs.
Beyond academic planning, the Advising Fair played a crucial role in cultivating a culture of thoughtful and informed choice, empowering students to align their education with their personal aspirations and professional goals. By providing clarity, confidence, and direction, the fair continues to shape students’ academic journeys and prepare them for meaningful futures.
The event was graced by Rector Dr. Jonathan S. Addleton, Vice-Rector Dr. Douglas E.Trimble, Associate Vice-Rectors Dr. Gloria Calib and Dr. Hee Sook Song, along with Deans and Chairpersons of Academic Departments, whose presence underscored the university’s strong institutional support for faculty advising. Their engagement with students highlighted the importance of personalized advising in nurturing responsible, intellectually grounded, and globally aware citizens.
At the closing ceremony, Dr. Atiq-ur-Rehman, Head of Faculty Advising, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the university leadership, faculty advisors, staff, and all contributors whose collective efforts made Advising Fair 2026 a landmark success. As this distinguished annual tradition continues to evolve, it remains a cornerstone of academic guidance and student empowerment at FCCU, Pakistan’s only true liberal arts institution, where education extends beyond classrooms to shape well-rounded individuals prepared for a rapidly changing world.
The Annual Advising Fair remains unique in Pakistan’s higher education landscape, distinct from conventional Job and Career Fairs, as it focuses not merely on employment pathways, but on comprehensive academic advising, meaningful academic as well as life plans, mentorship, and student development, as FCCU's mission & Faculty Advising Model suggest.
