The University of Lahore organized a book review session on March 5, 2026, focusing on Simon Sinek's globally acclaimed book, Start with Why. This intellectual gathering was organized through a collaborative effort by the Directorate of Digital Learning and Skill Enhancement (DDL&SE), the Learning Resource Center (LRC), and the Department of Information Management (DoIM). Ms. Rimsha moderated this session.

Dr. Zaheer Ahmad, Director DDL&SE, in his opening remarks emphasized the significance of organizing intellectual and literary forums within academic institutions. He highlighted that these sessions provide an important platform for knowledge exchange, collaborative learning, and professional growth, enabling faculty members to align their educational practices with a deeper sense of purpose and impact.

The session was facilitated by Mr. Sohail Ejaz, a corporate trainer and consultant, who enlightened participants by exploring the core tenets of Sinek’s work and encouraging them to reflect on their underlying motivations, actions, and overall purpose in both their personal and professional lives. His facilitation helped translate the theoretical aspects of Sinek’s Golden Circle concept of Why, How, and What into practical and relatable contexts.

In the closing remarks, Dr. Nadeem Asghar Syed, Dean, Faculty of Languages and Literature, expressed his appreciation to the organizers, the guest facilitator, and the participants for making the session meaningful and engaging. He highlighted the importance of such intellectual forums in promoting critical thinking, continuous learning, and professional development among faculty members. He, along with Dr. Saqib Goraya and Mr. Hammad Nazir, presented a souvenir to the presenter as a token of appreciation.

The event concluded with an interactive discussion in which participants shared reflections on the book and its relevance to leadership, education, and organizational development. The session successfully laid a strong foundation for future literary and professional development initiatives at The University of Lahore.

The University of Lahore warmly welcomed its newly enrolled students on February 21, 2026, as part of Orientation Spring 2026. The session was graced by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Dean PGSR, Dr. Zaheer Ahmad, Director, Directorate of Digital Learning and Skills Enhancement, and a representative from ERP. They provided an insightful overview of the University’s academic programs, policies, digital systems, and comprehensive student support services, helping students understand the academic environment and resources available to them. The orientation laid a strong foundation for their academic journey and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunities ahead.

The University of Lahore organized an orientation session to warmly welcome its newly enrolled postgraduate students and to familiarize them with the academic framework, policies, and digital resources designed to support their learning and research journey. The session aimed to provide students with a clear understanding of the university’s expectations, available facilities, and the pathways to excel in their postgraduate studies.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Dean, PGSR, introduced students to the Postgraduate Programs Policy and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring clarity on academic requirements and processes. Mr. Atib Ramzan, Head of ERP and SAP, briefed students on the university’s digital systems and explained how these platforms are designed to support students throughout their academic lifecycle.

Dr. Zaheer Ahmad, Project Director of the Directorate of Digital Learning and Skills Enhancement, delivered an engaging session on the University's Research Output Management System (ROMS). He introduced its key components, including the Student Research Portal (SRP), Institutional Research Repository (IRR), Research Output Archive (ROA), and Learning Resource Center (LRC). Dr. Zaheer emphasized how these platforms empower students to effectively manage their research journey, systematically archive essential documents, and actively contribute to the academic community. He highlighted that ROMS ensures transparency, accessibility, and long-term preservation of knowledge, enabling student research to make a lasting impact.

The orientation concluded with an interactive Q&A session, reflecting the university's commitment to guiding and supporting its postgraduate scholars from the very beginning of their academic journey.

The University of Lahore (UOL) achieved a significant academic milestone on August 9, 2025, with the formal inauguration of its Department of Information Management (DoIM). This new department marks a strategic step towards to advancing the study and practice of information management in today’s data-driven world. The department serves as a hub for research, innovation, and academic excellence, offering specialised education that integrates emerging technologies with core principles of information governance, digital services, and knowledge management.

The Department of Information Management has been established to offer cutting-edge academic programs, foster innovation, and promote best practices in knowledge organization, digital transformation, and ethical research conduct. It will serve as a hub for interdisciplinary collaboration, policy development, and community engagement aligning with UOL’s vision to be a leader in research-driven education and professional capacity building.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Zaheer Ahmad, Head, Department of Information Management reaffirms UOL’s commitment to academic excellence and research integrity, positioning the university as a key player in advancing information management education in Pakistan and beyond.

The Department of Information Management at The University of Lahore, in collaboration with the Directorate of Digital Learning and Skills Enhancement, UOL and the National Language Promotion Department (NLPD), Islamabad, successfully organized a well-represented workshop AI-Powered University Libraries: Tools, Trends, and Transformation on August 9, 2025. The event brought together leading academicians, library professionals, and researchers to discuss the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in reshaping academic libraries.

In the first session, Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood, Pro Vice Chancellor, University of the Punjab, highlighted how AI is reshaping university libraries and stressed the need for library professionals to be prepared for AI-driven environments.

In the second session, Mr. Muhammad Tariq, Incharge, COMSATS University Library, Lahore, discussed the practical applications of AI tools in research support services. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar, Director General, NLPD, emphasized the role of literature in bridging cultural and academic gaps. Dr. Muhammad Asif Munir, Director, Punjab Higher Education Commission, assured full institutional support for AI integration in academic libraries.

Dr. Zaheer Ahmad, Head, Department of Information Management, provided an in-depth briefing on the newly established department at UOL. He highlighted its focus on producing highly skilled information professionals equipped with both traditional and emerging technological competencies. He introduced the MPhil in Information Management program, explaining its curriculum design, research opportunities, and alignment with global trends in information science. Dr. Zaheer also emphasized the Department’s commitment to fostering academic integrity, innovation, and leadership, while serving as a hub for collaborative research and professional development.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Muhammad Shahid Soroya, Director General Pakistan Institute of Education, Islamabad, underscored the challenges and opportunities academia faces with AI proliferation, stressing the importance of ethical considerations and strategic adaptation. He also outlined the role the AMEA Consortium will play in addressing these challenges in the future.
