As of June 2026, Ontario has eliminated all 8 official streams under the OINP, and replaced it with just one Ontario Workforce Priority Stream. But what does this mean for you?

The closed streams included the three Employer Job Offer streams, Master's and PhD Graduate, and all three Express Entry streams; no further invitations will be issued under them.

The new stream has three pathways: TEER 0-3 (job offer, CLB 6, post-secondary), TEER 4-5 (job offer, CLB 4, secondary school), and self-employed physicians (CPSO good standing and OHIP billing, no job offer).

Pending EOIs under the old streams will be withdrawn, but submitted applications keep the old rules. The EOI system is now closed to new EOIs, and no further invitations will be issued under the former streams.

Get ready for the new EOI, line up a qualifying job offer, and meet the higher benchmarks. There is a gap between today's closures and the EOI reopening later this summer, and that window is the time to prepare. Workers should confirm their occupation's TEER category, check which experience option they can meet, and book a language test that reaches the benchmark for their pathway, since CLB 6 is higher than several old streams required.

You still need IELTS, (whereas French is no longer mandatory for immigrating to Ontario), and a valid job offer from an employer in Ontario to submit your expression of interest.
