Empowering Educational Leaders: BS Education & Special Education Poster Presentation
The Department of Education at the University of Management and Technology (UMT) organized a comprehensive Research Project Poster Presentation on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. The event served as a premium platform to celebrate the academic curiosity, innovative ideas, and research capabilities of undergraduate students.
The presentations were strategically divided into two distinct, highly interactive sessions under the expert instruction and supervision of Dr. Irfan Bashir:
Session 1 (Morning Segment): Held from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, this session featured a combined display of innovative research projects by both BS Education and Special Education students. It sparked vibrant academic dialogues and provided fresh perspectives on inclusive learning.
Session 2 (Afternoon Segment): Conducted from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, this session highlighted the individual capstone research efforts of the BS Education students, focusing on leading instruction and modern educational frameworks.
Both sessions witnessed remarkable footfall and enthusiastic participation from the university community, offering immense learning, inspiration, and peer encouragement to the campus while confidently shaping the future of lifelong learning.

Building a Safe and Respectful Campus: Two-Day Anti-Harassment Awareness Seminar at UMT
The School of Social Sciences and Humanities (SSSH), University of Management and Technology (UMT), in collaboration with the Anti-Harassment Committee (AHC), successfully organized a two-day Anti-Harassment Awareness Seminar aimed at promoting a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment.
The seminar featured distinguished experts and academicians who shared valuable insights on harassment prevention, reporting mechanisms, and institutional responsibilities.
Day 1 (Friday, 19 June 2026):
The seminar series commenced with an impactful session by Ms. Maliha Husain, Executive Director of Mehergarh: A Centre for Learning, Islamabad. Her presentation, titled "Building a Safe, Respectful, and Inclusive Campus: Understanding, Preventing, and Responding to Harassment," focused on creating awareness about harassment, fostering respectful interactions, and empowering individuals to respond effectively to inappropriate behavior.
Day 2 (Saturday, 20 June 2026):
The second day featured a keynote address by Ms. Sumaira Hussain, Advocate, Supreme Court of Pakistan, who provided valuable legal insights into harassment redressal mechanisms under Pakistani law, reporting procedures, and institutional frameworks for ensuring justice and accountability.
The sessions were further enriched by the contributions of Dr. Afshan Naseem and Dr. Irfan Bashir from the Department of Education, who facilitated discussion and reflection on the importance of maintaining ethical and respectful conduct within educational settings.
The seminar received an enthusiastic response from students of the Department of Education, reflecting UMT's commitment to fostering a culture of dignity, respect, and zero tolerance for harassment. On 15 June 2026, the Department of Education, SSSH-UMT, proudly celebrated the achievements of its high-performing students at the Dean Merit Award Ceremony.
The awards were presented by the Worthy Dean in recognition of students' outstanding academic performance, dedication, and commitment to excellence. The ceremony served as a celebration of hard work, perseverance, and academic achievement, inspiring students to continue striving for excellence in their educational pursuits.
The event was attended by the Chairperson, Department of Education, who joined in congratulating the award recipients on this remarkable accomplishment.

Drawing on his extensive experience in educational leadership, STEM education, and teacher development, Prof. Ishaq shared valuable insights into innovative school leadership practices, fostering academic excellence, and preparing students for the challenges of the future.
The session provided students with a meaningful opportunity to engage with an accomplished educational leader and gain practical perspectives on leadership, innovation, and excellence in education.

On 13 June 2026, the Department of Education, SSSH-UMT, successfully hosted an insightful session by Ms. Javeria Khan, Manager School Evaluation, Beaconhouse Group, on "School Evaluation and Creative Leadership: Building Trust, Capacity, and Change."
Drawing on her extensive experience in school evaluation and educational leadership, Ms. Khan shared valuable perspectives on fostering a culture of trust, continuous improvement, and meaningful change in educational institutions. The session encouraged students to critically reflect on the role of leadership and evaluation in enhancing school effectiveness and educational quality.

NACTE Formal Accreditation Visit – Phase II

June 4–7, 2026
The Department of Education, School of Social Sciences & Humanities, University of Management and Technology, successfully conducted Phase II of the NACTE Formal Accreditation Visit from June 4 to June 7, 2026 for the programs MPhil Educational Leadership and Management, MPhil Special Education, and PhD Special Education.
The Phase-II evaluation was conducted by the NACTE team comprising Prof. Dr. Riffat-un-Nisa as Team Leader and Ms. Beenish Asmat Ullah as Member.
During the visit, the evaluation team reviewed program documentation, conducted document inventory and document analysis, held faculty interviews, interacted with alumni and prospective teachers, observed classes, visited university infrastructure, and participated in debriefing meetings with the relevant academic and administrative leadership.
The Department of Education sincerely acknowledges the support of the university leadership, Dean SSSH, Chairperson Department of Education, Director AAQIC, Registrar Office, Controller of Examinations, faculty members, staff, students, alumni, and all supporting offices for their cooperation in successfully facilitating the accreditation process.

NACTE Formal Accreditation Visit – Phase I

The Department of Education, School of Social Sciences & Humanities, University of Management and Technology, successfully hosted Phase I of the NACTE Formal Accreditation Visit from June 1 to June 3, 2026 for the programs BS Education and BS (Hons.) Special Needs Education.
The NACTE Evaluation Team, comprising Dr. Muhammad Tanveer Afzal as Team Leader, Dr. Javed Iqbal as Member, and Dr. Shamsa Aziz, Secretary NACTE, visited the department for the formal evaluation and accreditation process.
During the visit, the team conducted orientation sessions, meetings with university leadership, interviews with the Chairperson, faculty, staff, alumni, and prospective teachers, document inventory review, classroom observations, infrastructure visits, document analysis, and debriefing meetings.
The Department of Education sincerely acknowledges the support of the Rector, Provost, Dean SSSH, Chairperson Department of Education, Director AAQIC, Registrar Office, Controller of Examinations, faculty members, staff, students, alumni, and all supporting offices for their valuable cooperation throughout the visit.
