On June 13, 2026, Beaconhouse National University (BNU) hosted a landmark ceremony to launch two transformative manuals addressing critical student welfare issues: From Risk to Resilience: BNU Substance Use Control Program and Campus Care: A Guide to Psychological First Aid. BNU is the first university in Pakistan to break the cycle of silence and develop a comprehensive, empathy-led framework dedicated to establishing a drug-free campus and providing robust psychological support systems.

The high-profile event was attended by Senior Minister for the Government of Punjab, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Provincial Minister of School and Higher Education, Rana Sikandar Hayat, alongside various university Vice Chancellors, provincial secretaries, and psychological experts. Vice Chancellor Dr. Moeed Yusuf emphasized that the manuals serve as a practical roadmap for the broader educational community, proving that meaningful progress is possible when institutions lead with determination and care.

The generous support of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and the Punjab Police played a crucial role in making this initiative possible. Recognizing the success of this model, the Government of Punjab has committed to implementing the framework, while the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has formed a dedicated committee led by Dr. Moeed Yusuf to replicate this model across educational institutions nationwide.

إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ

Beaconhouse National University mourns the passing of Mr. Izzat Majeed, a distinguished entrepreneur, philanthropist, patron of the arts, and steadfast supporter of higher education, whose vision, generosity, and commitment to learning and culture have left an enduring legacy in Pakistan.

Mr. Majeed believed deeply in the transformative power of knowledge, creativity, and human potential. While widely remembered for preserving Pakistan’s rich musical heritage, he was equally committed to strengthening institutions that nurture intellectual inquiry, critical thought, and artistic expression.

In 2009, Mr. Majeed made a landmark contribution to BNU that enabled the construction of the Seeta Majeed School of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences Building, named in loving memory of his mother. Formally inaugurated on 14 September 2011 alongside Chairperson Mrs. Nasreen Mahmud Kasuri, the ceremony was attended by human rights advocate Asma Jahangir and founding Vice Chancellor, the late Sartaj Aziz, reflecting its immense significance.

Today, the Seeta Majeed Building stands as a living testament to his faith in the humanities and social sciences. Beyond bricks and mortar, Mr. Majeed’s legacy endures in the institutions he helped strengthen and the countless lives enriched by the opportunities he made possible. We honor a life marked by generosity, vision, and service.
