In air conditioning unit the evaporator and condenser connect with each through copper tube. The refrigerant flow through the copper pipe. The efficiency of air conditioning unit is largely depended on the copper pipe used. Copper has high thermal conductivity which ensure that the refrigerant absorbs and release heat efficiently, result into effective and quick temperature regulations. Mostly, the copper pipe is covered with soft foam insulation pipe or insulation wrapping tape or other methods etc. to protect it from the aggressive environment as well as not heat dissipate from the copper pipe.
In the below photograph ๐ท, the copper pipe from the air conditioning outdoor unit is totally exposed to environment as no soft foam insulation pipe or insulation wrapping tape r**e on the copper pipe. You can clearly see that copper pipe color totally turn into black (which is actually reddish brown in color). The change in color indicates that the copper pipe is corroded, which result into decrease in the performance of air conditioning unit. If no further action is taken, the pitting will generate into the copper pipe, result into leakage of refrigerant. Annual maintenance of air conditioning unit is very necessary to avoid such time of failure.
Do you think it is a case of atmosphere corrosion? Do you think it is a case of pitting corrosion? Does it cause any damage? Is their risk involving in it, if this corrosion continues? Do you observe such type of corrosion in your daily life? Suggest the possible remedies? ๐ค

Normally the door angle is made up of structural steel, it is more resistant to rust than most steels. Enamel coating was applied on it to prevent corrosion. Enamel coating on steel provides corrosion resistance, durability, and aesthetic appeal.
In the below photography ๐ท, the room door angle is placed on the roof of house, the coated structural steel door angle is corroded from bottom, splashes of water (during cleaning and rainwater) can both contribute to corrosion. Atmospheric corrosion is material degradation due to pollutants incorporated in the air. It can also be defined as an electrochemical process that highly depends upon the electrolyte presence in dew/rain/melting snow/water and humidity. When water comes into contact with steel, it can initiate reactions that lead to rust formation over time. There is lot of reasons of corrosion, but its main reasons at this stage is the non-uniform thickness of coating and climate or weather condition.
๐ Do you think it is a case of atmospheric corrosion? Do you think it is a case of filiform corrosion? Does it cause any damage? Is their risk involving in it, if this corrosion continues? Do you observe such type of corrosion in your daily life? Suggest the possible remedies? ๐ค

The air conditioning outdoor unit is mostly placed on the roof of the building or placed outside the room. Mostly to increase the performance of the air conditioning unit, the outdoor unit is placed on the wall with the help of steel supporting frames. The frame helps to installed the outdoor unit to the wall as well as to bear the load of the outdoor unit. To protect the frame from adverse effect of corrosion, it is mostly coated.
In the below photograph, the outdoor unit supporting frame is severely corroded. Actually, during installation, the lack of awareness of corrosion plumb or installation team the frame used was bare steel. Due to environment effects like rain or humidity or aggressive salt species and temperature, the steel structure become severely corroded. Now the whole weight of the outdoor unit is on the corroded steel frame, which make the condition risky.
โ ๏ธIf no further action taken to mitigate the corrosion process this corroded steel frame further corrode and result in the corrosion of the bottom of outdoor unit as well.

The distribution boxes for internet or phone connections are mostly fabricated by steel to minimized the electrical interference with the surrounding and to save the internet/phone connections from water/rain. Those steel distribution boxes are powder coated with specific thicknesses depending on the nature of the environment. After coating, those distribution boxes are installed on poles, which are mostly fabricated by galvanized steel.
In the below photograph ๐ธ, the distribution box is severely corroded. Actually, powder coating on the distribution box is not good, it has non-uniform thickness. Due to which corrosion initiate from where there is less coating thickness. And its look that after coating no proper inspection of the coating was carried out. The environment is not harsh as much, but poor coating result into sever corrosion of distribution box. If corrosion further accelerate, it will create pin holes in the distribution box, due to which rain/water move into the box and โ ๏ธ result in malfunctioning of internet / phone connection.

Imagine having a glass of water with a battery and some special wires. When we connect these wires to two metal strips placed in the water and zap it with electricity, bubbles start forming! These aren't just any bubbles, though. One type is hydrogen gas, a potential fuel source that can power cars and even rockets! The other is oxygen, the gas we breathe. Pretty cool, right?

Now, most electrolysis experiments use fancy, non-reactive electrodes made of platinum or graphite. But what happens if we swap one of them for iron, a common metal that loves to rust? Here's where things get interesting. Iron isn't a big fan of just sitting in acid (which is basically what we're using in this experiment). It wants to react, and that reaction might affect the bubbles we see.
๐ป๐๐ ๐ด๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ฉ๐๐๐๐๐๐
This experiment is a springboard for further exploration. It raises questions ๐ค about how different metals like zinc and copper react in electrolysis and how we can use this knowledge to improve the process โจ. Maybe one day, rusty objects like old car parts could be used to create clean-burning fuel!

Mostly old drainage systems drain, waste and vent piping were manufactured by cast iron. Corrosion of the drain piping depends on the external environmental conditions and aggressiveness of the fluid flowing ๐ซง through it. To avoid erosion in the cast iron drain pipe mostly drain grate covers are used. In cast iron pipes, rust forms crust interior known as tubercules. This tuberculation slows down water flow, increase the chances of corrosion and erode the pipe internally.
In the photograph below ๐ท, the drain pipe is shown which is severely damage, and to avoid any accident the pipe is tightened with rope. The drain grate cover is missing in this certain due to which erosion firstly damage the cast iron pipe internally and then the water corrodes the pipe internally. The thickness of the pipe also decreases with the passage of time.
โ ๏ธ Now, this pipe is completely damaged and it should be replaced with the new one, otherwise it is very risky to use it further.

When you see ๐the below photograph ๐ธ of an iron p***o ๐, what you thought about it๐ค?
โก๏ธ Is it due to poor material selection?
โก๏ธ Or due to galvanic corrosion?
โก๏ธOr maybe the coating on the lock is poor?
โก๏ธWhat about crevice corrosion?
โก๏ธDo you think, the aggressive environment deterioratesโ๏ธ it?
โ
๏ธWhatever the reason/s of corrosion you are thinking from above options are correct, but I think it is due to lack in awareness about corrosion. It is due to ignorance and lack of maintenance. It is due to fact that this lock is useless for the owner or maybe they donโt need it anymore.
โถ๏ธThe corroded lock ๐ is a symbolic warning for all of us, that if we donโt care about our own assets, then the corrosion will overcome and it will lock our assets, resulting in financial and structural loses as well as environmental pollution. So, learn about the corrosion effects, get trained on its mitigation techniques and more than that communicate about the adverse effects of corrosion to the other people in your surrounding/networking. This act of kindness will protect people, assets and environment from the adverse effect of corrosion.
My mentor always says to me, when I am new in my professional carrier โIt is better to wear out, then to rust outโ.
