After contributing in the Education Sector, now my focus has shifted towards Social Development through non-traditional, yet semi-Formal, participatory community-based, Innovative Development Ventures. This would ultimately emerge as mega National Project for poverty reduction while adhering to the concept of COMMUNITY PROSPERTY CENTRE (Khushali Centre) . This will be a basic component of this broad-based comprehensive strategy to narrow the growing divide between “haves and have nots”. In this context, our first venture has already been started few months ago in the slums of Gulberg along with Railway lines in the building of Lahore Lions Club. Few more projects for technical skills enhancement of short durations under this innovative venture of Economic Self Reliance are also being launched shortly. These skill sets include training on stitching/tailoring, use of computer skills, continental cooking, UPS manufacturing and repairing, Hair-Cutting, Cell Phone Repairing, Computer Hardware and its maintenance, Printers repair and maintenance, Motorbike/Car puncture training using the latest technology/tools etc. This unique Model of Poverty Alleviation is based upon basic theme of Khushali Bazariaa Hunar (Prosperity through Skills). This theme primarily revolves around the concept of giving 2-6 months, free market-driven, hands-on, and on the job technical training including basic life skills offered to the unemployed/semi-employed marginalized people of Pakistan which will enable them to earn minimum of around Rs 6000-15,000/- per month. It will give them Economic Empowerment especially in Southern and Upper Punjab in First Phase and then to Northern Areas, interior Sindh and Baluchistan in the second part. Brief Biography:
Prof. Dr. Ali Sajid (Tamgha-i-Imtiaz) is a graduate mechanical engineer from UET, Lahore. He has done his Masters and Ph.D. in Engineering Management from The George Washington University, Washington D.C, USA. He is ISO-9000 Certified Lead Auditor from BSI, UK. He has taught in various US universities and worked at World Bank, multinational and multiracial corporate environment of Washington D.C. He is also member of "American Society for Quality" and "Pakistan Engineering Council." Since last Eight years he has been teaching at various Islamabad based Colleges including College of EME & MCS, FJWU, CASE and NUST. He has also been an Advisor to the Planning Commission, Government of Pakistan on Quality Management & Productivity. Increasing productivity in white/ blue Collar Environment, Good Governance, Application of Quality & Project Management in public sector/industry are his main areas of interest. He is extensively involved in the training of "Management of Change, Industrial Management, Productivity Management, Leadership, Quality Management & Competitiveness, and Engineering Management" etc at public and social sector organizations and multinational corps to enhance organizational effectiveness.
