Learning from MIT’s Entrepreneurial Hub – Martin Trust Center
Tabeer’s next stop was the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship, where participants engaged in an insightful session with Dr. Imran, a professor at MIT and a serial entrepreneur. He shared how the center has served as a launchpad for groundbreaking startups like HubSpot and Dropbox.
The visit continued with deep dives into AI innovations at C10 Labs, the collaborative SUNDAI initiative, and cutting-edge AI tools at MIT, including ORBIT—designed to support startups with data-driven strategies.
The day wrapped up with an inspiring panel discussion featuring Iqra, Murtaza, Ambreen, Fatima, and Hiba, who shared their journeys and insights on leveraging MIT’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
A key takeaway? The most effective way to teach entrepreneurship is by bridging academia with real-world experience. Exploring Innovation at Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC)
The Tabeer participants embarked on an exciting journey exploring some of the leading innovation and incubation centers in the U.S. This exchange program kicked off with a visit to the CIC - Cambridge Innovation Center, Boston, a thriving hub that supports over 500 startups across multiple locations. Founded in 1999 by MIT graduates, CIC has played a pivotal role in fostering entrepreneurship, with industry leaders from Google, Facebook, Apple, and Amazon having been part of its ecosystem.
The session, led by Kris Mondlane, provided insights into CIC’s impact and history. Notably, Android originated from this very hub, highlighting its role in shaping groundbreaking innovations. The participants explored how CIC’s model integrates with Boston’s dynamic innovation landscape, drawing parallels to how similar incubator models could be strengthened in Pakistan.

Our Tabeer Onsite Training series continued with a productive visit to the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), led by Minahil Zia, Learning and Development Programs Lead at LCE, and Ayesha Ishaq, M&E Associate of Tabeer.
The discussions centered around UVAS’s strength in the agriculture industry and its untapped potential for growth. The LCE team, alongside representatives from the U.S. State Department, shared insights on leveraging the university’s extensive alumni network to foster stronger industry collaboration. Strategic suggestions were made to refine the Business Incubation Center's (BIC) Key Performance Indicators and build its capacity to drive innovation within the agricultural sector. UVAS’s BIC is set to play a key role in transforming the agriculture landscape.

During our visit to Fatima Jinnah Medical University under the Tabeer project, we engaged in an insightful discussion led by Nauman Zaffar, Director of LCE; Minahil Zia, Learning and Development Programmes Lead at LCE; Sandeep Paul, and Tanveer Hassan from the State Department.
The focus of the discussion was on the standard operating procedures for incubation processes, with a particular emphasis on aligning incubation operations with the specific needs of healthcare startups, ensuring a smooth onboarding experience, and providing tailored support. We also explored a strategic roadmap for expanding incubation activities, emphasizing the nurturing of medical innovations, access to mentorship, and efficient resource allocation.
This strategic planning is pivotal for fostering innovation and advancing healthcare outcomes.
