Solo Creator of the Universe. Thousands of scholars have since graduated from this JAMIA, and are busy spreading the beacon of Islamic light to people all over the world. In recognition of the high standard of education at the JAMIA, the Pakistan University Grants Commission (now named HIGHER EDUCATION COMMISSION of Pakistan) has recognized its final degree equivalent to MA Islamiyat & MA Arabic. Since Islam provides a comprehensive code of life for all human beings and declares education compulsory for all men & women, this JAMIA caters for the Islamic Education of women as well. There are more than 3500 male & 1000 female pupils on its rolls at Lahore – with main campus for men at Ferozepur Road and the Ladies campus Madrasatul Faisal Lil Banaat at Model Town, Lahore. There are 11 other branches of the JAMIA at Lahore.

11. Madrasa Faisal Lil Banat – for girls, at Hassan Abdal, Rawalpindi. In addition to the normal extensive course of studies, this JAMIA has also initiated an abridged course of only four years for the graduates of other national Universities. This abridged intensive course has earned a very popular response from the public at large, and shall certainly go a long way to gulf the gap between the secular & Islamic streams of education. Here it also needs being pointed out, for information of the distinguished audience, that this JAMIA doesn’t only cater for the teaching of pure Islamic subjects like the Holy Qur’an & Ahadith etc but it has also included the study of English, Mathematics, Science & Social Studies as part of it’s curriculum. In appreciation of the utility of Information Technology a Computer Center, named UMMUL QURA INSTITUTE was inaugurated in November 1998 by the-then President of Pakistan, as a post-graduate Faculty of this University. The Aims & Objectives of the Institute are: -
Utilization of modern Information Technology (i.e. computer, Internet etc.) for effective communication of the Islamic message to mankind all over the world. To plan a strategy to counter & refute the anti-Islamic campaigns. To teach English as an international Language to Ulama in order to equip them with faculty of direct study & response to the modern approach towards life & religion. Fundamental courses of Computers inclusive of Urdu/Arabic In-Page, Internet, E-mail, Web Page and study of Islamic & Anti Islamic Web Sites. Critical study of the available CDs on Qur’an, Ahadith & Islamic knowledge; and preparation of new CDs with authenticated material from acknowledged resources. Prompt remittance of replies of queries/references on Islamic faith & jurisprudence to people from all over the world by e-mail. Establishment of Islamic teaching Institutions in countries abroad, and their supervision & guidance through e-mail. Constitution of an INTERNATIONAL ADVISORY BOARD comprising of Muslim representatives of scholastic ability from various countries of the world. Having said all that about the academic activities of the JAMIA, it is submitted that all these gigantic projects, inclusive of construction of buildings, complete Board & Lodge, Tuition fee & Health care facilities are all being provided solely through voluntary contributions of the Muslim philanthropists & industrialists to earn the good-will of Allah. The main campus of the JAMIA is spread over 120 Kanals, and comprises a beautiful Mosque, an Academic-cum-Administrative Block, two huge Boarding Houses, Staff residences and a Hospital attended by the top medical specialists for free health care of the staff & students of the JAMIA and the people of the localities around. Now a BRIEF REVIEW of the other SALIENT PROJECTS-IN-HAND at JAMIA is submitted hereafter. In addition to the routine extensive academic tasks being carried out of JAMIA ASHRAFIA to earn the goodwill of Allah, the UMMUL QURA INSTITUTE of the JAMIA is extensively engaged in utilizing the modern Information Technology in the following projects to propagate the message of Islam in its true perspective to the people all over the world today. FATAWA BY E-MAIL: Replies of queries on Islamic Jurisprudence by e-mail [email protected] is a daily routine at JAMIA ASHRAFIA. M***I ON LINE: A qualified M***i remains available at JAMIA’S [email protected] programme round the clock for 24 hours a day to give verbal replies to all sorts of queries from any part of the world at any time – through the use of Fiber Optic Technique – procured through the technical expertise of Pakistan’s most popular ISP BRAIN NET. THE-MESSAGE: JAMIA has created its own Home Page The-Message at Paltalk Messenger, for providing Islamic Education-on-line to people world-over. FRIDAY SERMONS: The Friday Sermons delivered by JAMIA’S Sheikhul Hadith are placed alive on JAMIA’S website http://www.al-islam.edu.pk for benefits of people at home and abroad. DAILY LESSONS: A lesson on the Fundamentals of Islam and Sayings of the Holy Prophet (SAWS) is remitted to thousands of registered recipients daily. TAFSEER-E-QUR’AN ON-INTERNET: The complete Urdu Commentary of the Holy Qur’an alongwith bold Arabic Text & translation is placed on JAMIA’S website http://www.al-islam.edu.pk. It has been provided with over 2500 topics for search of the related Ayat & commentary for benefit of the scholars. This is indeed a unique production, which took colossal intellectual labour & professional skill and took over three years for completion. The same TAFSEER-E-QURAN has also been made available in three printed volumes for study without computer. YASSAR-NAL-QURAN: A software of 8½ hour duration developed in both Urdu & English versions with great labour of about 3 years. It is an extremely entertaining presentation, particularly useful for the children & the people not conversant with Urdu/Arabic Alphabets, and leads them to learn to recite the Holy Qur’an written in Arabic script. TAJWEED: This software is developed in the voice of JAMIA’S Chief Qari, and presents the rules of Qur’nic Recitation in a sequence of 28 graded lessons. It is a self-teaching software for those who want to learn to recite the Holy Quran with correct accent. ELECTRONIC BOOK: About 150 Quranic & Masnoon supplications are recorded in voice in the form an Electronic Book. BAHISHTI ZEWAR: – a reputed treatise by Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi (RA) has been presented in the form a software with facility of Search Option. It is indeed an extremely useful collection of knowledge, made available in the form a CD after fair amount of professional labour. SAHIH BOKHARI: With the blessing of Allah, we have been able to complete the recording of the Arabic Text of Sahih Bokhari, in JAMIA’S Recording Room and now we are planning to record its translation as well. LANGUAGE LAB: A fully equipped air-conditioned Language Lab with all facilities of teaching any language has been established at this Institute of JAMIA ASHRAFIA, where we are teaching Spoken English & Spoken Arabic to selected groups of students & scholars of JAMIA ASHRAFIA. This Language Lab has no equivalence in Lahore except the Language Lab at the Islamic Center of the University of the Punjab. DIPLOMA COURSE: In addition to the projects just reflected, the Ummul Qura Institute of the JAMIA also runs are intensive one year post graduate course for qualified Islamic Ulema to equip them with faculties to face the challenge of the world today. Particular emphasis is laid on comparative study of Religions, Spoken English and Utilization of Computer Technology in service of Islam. ASHRAFIA GIRLS COLLEGE: In fulfillment of the desire of many Muslim families living abroad, we have started a gigantic project of constructing a building to provide ideal O to A Level teaching and Board & Lodge facilities for their young daughters confronted with the un-Islamic culture at their present abode in western countries abroad. FIBER OPTIC CONNECTIVITY: Since most of our projects involve the use of Information Technology we have of late embarked upon the latest internet mode of Audio & Video transmission by attaining FIBER OPTIC CONNECTIVITY – which will Insha Allah streamline & activate all our projects to earn the best results within the shortest time. PUBLICATIONS: In addition to utilizing IT in service of Islam, Ummul Qura Institute is also doing a lot of work on publications & printing of Islamic Literature, such on TAFSSER-E-QURAN, KHUTBAT-E-SEERAT, COLLECTION OF QURANIC & MASNOON PRAYERS, AL-ASMA-UL-HUSNA, HAJ-O-UMRAH etc. Dear Visitors,
