The vision of the School of Computer and IT is to produce graduates who can compete academically, technically and professionally with the best in the country. To this end the School places special emphasis on all areas which have an impact on the provision of quality education namely; quality of intake, curriculum development, selection of faculty, teaching methodology, examination system and co-curricular activities. The School is conscious of the fast changing market requirements, which emanate from new systems and technologies. In particular, the Internet and mobile technologies have completely changed the working of the business and commercial world. The School has introduced new programs and updated existing ones in response to these changing needs. By virtue of being positioned in a liberal arts university, the School of IT offers its students an opportunity to develop a well rounded academic profile. Students enrolled with the School of IT can take up any number of electives from a diverse suite of courses which are offered by the other six schools of the University.

🏆 Proud moment for SCIT!

Our Cybersecurity Fellows from the APAC Cybersecurity Clinic Beaconhouse National University (BNU) competed in the Cyber Battle at Cyber Fest 2026 a high-intensity, real-time offensive cybersecurity competition held at Lahore Garrison University.

Going up against top talent, our team showed strong skills and strategic thinking, and were shortlisted as finalists a great achievement on a competitive platform.

Mohammad Talal Jamil graduated from the School of Computer & IT at Beaconhouse National University (BNU) with a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering in 2022. He is currently working as a Software Engineer at Deline Media, where he develops and maintains scalable RESTful APIs, enhances frontend systems, optimizes application performance, and collaborates with stakeholders to deliver business-driven solutions. His technical expertise includes Laravel, AngularJS, Node.js, SQL, Postman, Jira, and Bitbucket. Before joining Deline Media, he gained industry experience through internships at Tech Bridge Consultancy and Life at CureMD, working on web development and usability evaluation.

From 2021 to 2022, Talal also served as a Teaching Assistant at BNU, supporting undergraduate software engineering courses by assisting faculty, mentoring students, conducting laboratory sessions, and evaluating assignments and projects. His academic and research interests focus on AI-enabled software engineering and the application of large language models (LLMs) in software development. He co-authored a paper accepted at the Mining Software Repositories (MSR) 2025 conference, which evaluates the quality of code generated by GPT-3.5-Turbo and GPT-4 using the HumanEval benchmark.

Reflecting on his time at BNU, Talal credits the university with laying a strong foundation for both his academic and professional journey. The hands-on curriculum, collaborative learning environment, and guidance from faculty equipped him with the technical skills and confidence to excel in industry and pursue research. His experience as a Teaching Assistant further strengthened his leadership and communication skills, making his time at BNU a defining chapter in his career.

Representing Beaconhouse National University (BNU) on the global stage, Mr. Nabeel Ahsan, Senior Lecturer at the School of Computer & IT (SCIT), was invited by CESI, France to deliver two hands-on lectures on AI Security Challenges in Industrial Applications.

Bringing together students from France, Egypt, India, Lebanon, and Serbia, the sessions combined theory with practical demonstrations to explore the rapidly evolving landscape of AI security. Through real-world case studies and interactive labs, participants gained hands-on experience in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating security risks in modern AI systems.

The workshops covered key topics including:
• AI development lifecycle and MLOps
• AI Red Teaming methodologies
• The NIST AI Cybersecurity Risk Assessment Framework
• MITRE ATLAS Threat Modeling Framework
• Adversarial attacks on computer vision systems using FGSM and PGD
• Large Language Model (LLM) security, vulnerability assessment, prompt injection, and jailbreaking techniques

Students also worked with industry-relevant tools such as the Adversarial Robustness Toolbox (ART), NVIDIA Garak, LLM Studio, and the OWASP Juice Shop Bully AI chatbot, applying both offensive and defensive AI security techniques in hands-on laboratory exercises.

This international collaboration reflects SCIT’s commitment to advancing cutting-edge AI education, fostering global academic partnerships, and equipping future professionals with the knowledge and practical skills needed to address emerging cybersecurity challenges.

Day 1 of Project Showcase 2026 commenced with an exciting display of student-led projects spanning a wide range of domains, including Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Fintech, Climate Change, Computer Vision, Gaming, E-Commerce, and Web & Mobile Development. These innovative projects highlighted technology-driven solutions designed to address real-world challenges and emerging industry needs.

Throughout the day, students engaged visitors through live project demonstrations, interactive exhibits, networking sessions, and recruitment opportunities.

Project Showcase 2026 brought together students, academia, recruiters, and industry professionals to exchange ideas, foster collaboration, and explore the future of technology. The showcased projects were evaluated by a distinguished panel of external judges, including Dr. Atif Alvi, Dean of the School of Systems and Technology and Professor at UMT; Prof. Dr. Shafay Shamail, Chairperson of the National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC); along with other renowned academicians and industry leaders.

The School of Computer Science and Information Technology (SCIT) Project Showcase 2026 officially commenced on June 5, 2026, with an opening ceremony graced by Prof. Dr. Shafay Shamail as the Chief Guest.

A distinguished academic and technology leader, Prof. Dr. Shafay Shamail is a Professor at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and currently serves as the Chairperson of the National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC). With extensive expertise in academia, software engineering, and technology leadership, he has played a pivotal role in advancing computing education and strengthening accreditation standards across Pakistan.

During his visit, Prof. Shamail engaged in meaningful discussions with SCIT faculty members and key representatives of Beaconhouse National University (BNU), exchanging insights on the future of computing education, innovation, and industry-academia collaboration.

The Vice Chancellor of BNU presented him with a commemorative souvenir in recognition of his contributions to the field. Prof. Shamail then performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony, officially inaugurating the SCIT Project Showcase 2026.

The event provided an opportunity to explore a diverse range of innovative student projects and interact with emerging talent working across cutting-edge domains, including Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Fintech, Computer Vision, Software Development, and other technology-driven fields. The showcase highlighted SCIT’s commitment to fostering innovation, practical learning, and industry engagement while celebrating the creativity and technical excellence of its students.
