Day 1 of Project Showcase 2026 commenced with an exciting display of student-led projects spanning a wide range of domains, including Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Fintech, Climate Change, Computer Vision, Gaming, E-Commerce, and Web & Mobile Development. These innovative projects highlighted technology-driven solutions designed to address real-world challenges and emerging industry needs.
Throughout the day, students engaged visitors through live project demonstrations, interactive exhibits, networking sessions, and recruitment opportunities.
Project Showcase 2026 brought together students, academia, recruiters, and industry professionals to exchange ideas, foster collaboration, and explore the future of technology. The showcased projects were evaluated by a distinguished panel of external judges, including Dr. Atif Alvi, Dean of the School of Systems and Technology and Professor at UMT; Prof. Dr. Shafay Shamail, Chairperson of the National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC); along with other renowned academicians and industry leaders.

The School of Computer Science and Information Technology (SCIT) Project Showcase 2026 officially commenced on June 5, 2026, with an opening ceremony graced by Prof. Dr. Shafay Shamail as the Chief Guest.
A distinguished academic and technology leader, Prof. Dr. Shafay Shamail is a Professor at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and currently serves as the Chairperson of the National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC). With extensive expertise in academia, software engineering, and technology leadership, he has played a pivotal role in advancing computing education and strengthening accreditation standards across Pakistan.
During his visit, Prof. Shamail engaged in meaningful discussions with SCIT faculty members and key representatives of Beaconhouse National University (BNU), exchanging insights on the future of computing education, innovation, and industry-academia collaboration.
The Vice Chancellor of BNU presented him with a commemorative souvenir in recognition of his contributions to the field. Prof. Shamail then performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony, officially inaugurating the SCIT Project Showcase 2026.
The event provided an opportunity to explore a diverse range of innovative student projects and interact with emerging talent working across cutting-edge domains, including Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Fintech, Computer Vision, Software Development, and other technology-driven fields. On June 2, 2026, the School of Computer Science & IT hosted an insightful guest speaker session in collaboration with Finz Games, offering students a comprehensive overview of career opportunities within the gaming industry.
The session was led by Junaid Hasan, Senior HR Executive at , along with members of his team, who shared valuable insights into the industry’s recruitment practices, emerging career pathways, and the skills required to succeed in today’s rapidly evolving gaming ecosystem.
Students were introduced to a diverse range of roles that contribute to the development and success of modern games, including Game Development, Game Design, Quality Assurance, Content Analysis, Video Editing, Human Resources, and 2D/3D Art. The discussion emphasized that the gaming industry offers opportunities for individuals with varied skill sets and professional interests.
Through an engaging and interactive discussion, participants gained a deeper understanding of careers in game development, programming, animation, esports, digital storytelling, and other creative and technical domains.
