One of the most serious side effects of social media is shortening of our intellectual and emotional attention span.
Every story on our news feed has a new flavor. Something hilarious follows something absolutely heartbreaking. One moment we are feeling very sad and before we know it, we are laughing. This is giving rise to a strange kind of emotional indifference (or incapacity of a sort) and sheer lack of intellectual focus.
