SLP Visit to the Punjab Provincial Assembly. 04th June 2026.

The School of Law and Policy (SLP) had the distinct honor of attending the session titled β€œSpeaker and the Bar” at the Punjab Provincial Assembly.

The event brought together esteemed deans, faculty members, and students from leading law schools across Punjab, providing a valuable forum for intellectual engagement and dialogue on matters concerning the legal profession and parliamentary governance.

The session offered profound insights into the role of the Speaker, legislative processes, and the evolving relationship between the Bar and public institutions. It also provided participants with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of democratic governance and the functioning of legislative bodies.

SLP students along with Director SLP Ms. Khushbakht Qaiser and Faculty Dr. Shahzada Aamir Mushtaq . Ms. Saira Naheed and Ms. Ummara Mohsin, greatly benefited from this enriching experience, which complemented their academic pursuits and fostered a stronger appreciation for the principles of law, public service, and constitutional governance.

We express our sincere gratitude to the Punjab Provincial Assembly for organizing this distinguished event and for facilitating meaningful engagement between legal academia and legislative leadership.

MEET THE DEAN.

The School of Law and Policy successfully conducted its Meet the Dean session, providing students with a valuable opportunity to interact directly with the Dean, Ms. Khushbakht Qaiser. share their perspectives, and discuss academic and professional aspirations. The session was organized by UMT SLP - School of Law and Policy Participant council. The session fostered an open and engaging dialogue on student concerns, academic growth, and the future vision of the School.

We thank all students for their enthusiastic participation and insightful contributions, which made the event both meaningful and productive. Together, we continue to strengthen a culture of communication, collaboration, and excellence at SLP. .

The orientation session for new LLM Commercial Law students was held on 27 February 2026. The session introduced students to the program structure, faculty, academic policies, and research opportunities.

We welcome all students and wish them success in their academic journey.

UMT SLP - School of Law and Policy UMT organized a Poster Presentation and Competition providing a platform for LLM scholars to showcase their research work and enhance their academic and presentation skills. A total of 18 students presented their research posters under the supervision of Dr. Zaheer Ahmad.

The event commenced with the formal inauguration by Ms. Khushbakhat Qaiser, Dean, School of Law Policy, along with Dr. Zaheer Ahmad, Dr Kashif Imran Zaidi, Dr. Hassan Shakeel, Mr. Ali Allaudin, Muhammad Tanveer Aslam and other faculty members. In the opening remarks, Dr Zaheer Ahmad highlighted the significance of research-based learning and the role of poster presentations in developing analytical thinking and effective academic communication. He emphasized the importance of originality, methodological rigor, and practical relevance in student research.

Each student presented and briefly explained their research poster, covering the study objectives, methodology, key findings, and practical implications. The presentations reflected a strong research orientation, clarity of thought, and growing academic confidence among the participants. At the conclusion of the presentations, a jury carefully evaluated and ranked the posters based on predefined criteria. The following students secured positions in different categories:

1. 1st position: Hamna Noor
2. 2nd Position: Muhammad Abid Khan, Raja Waqas Ahmed and Amir Shabbir
3. 3rd Position: Natasha Sohail and Maria Khurshid
4. Best poster presenter: Muhammad Farooq Sadiq, Kashif Ali and Muhammad Mohsan Virk
5. Best Poster by Title: Zohaib Rasheed and Muhammad Azeem
6. Best Graphical Representation: Fazli Mehmood, Ali Ahmad Dawood and Muhammad Zubair
7. Best Poster (Public Choice): Bushra Urooj
8. Best Originality and Innovation: Humna Mushtaq and Muhammad Talha Aziz

In her closing remarks, Ms. Khushbakhat Qaiser appreciated the students’ research outputs and highlighted the importance of student-led research activities. She encouraged continued engagement in academic and policy-relevant research and emphasized that the School of Public Policy (SLP) will continue to support and promote such research-based initiatives to strengthen the research culture within the school. The 3rd SLP National Moot Court Competition 2026 concluded with an electrifying Final Round, marking the culmination of days filled with rigorous legal debate and exceptional advocacy. The University of the Punjab and Lahore School of Law advanced to the Final Round, representing the very best of mooting talent from across the country.
After a closely contested and intellectually stimulating final, the University of the Punjab emerged as the Winner of the 3rd SLP National Moot Court Competition 2026 πŸ†. Their performance reflected outstanding legal research, persuasive advocacy, and courtroom confidence.
That said, all participants are winners β€” each team demonstrated remarkable commitment, skill, and academic excellence. The competition stood as a celebration of learning, professionalism, and the future of the legal fraternity.
By successfully hosting this flagship event once again, SLP has proudly upheld its tradition of organizing large-scale national competitions, reinforcing its role in advancing legal education and contributing meaningfully to academic and professional legal discourse.
