The basics of introductory "it" and "there". These are dummy subjects we use when the real subject comes later, or when there isn't a clear subject at all.
1. Introductory "it"
We use it when we're talking about:
Time, dates, days: It’s 9pm. / It’s April 29th. / It’s Monday.
Weather & environment: It’s raining. / It’s cold in here. / It’s noisy outside.
Distance: It’s 5 km to Lahore city center.
Opinion phrases: It’s easy to learn. / It’s important to study. / It was fun to quiz you.
Structure: It + be + adjective/noun + to-infinitive/that-clause
It’s amazing that Lake Baikal holds so much water.
The real subject = "that Lake Baikal holds so much water"
2. Introductory "there"
We use there to say that something exists or happens. It’s about existence/location.
Structure: There + be + noun + place/time

Key difference:
It = focuses on time, weather, distance, or gives opinion on a situation
There = focuses on existence — telling you something exists somewhere
