*Independence Day Celebration*
As per the directions received from the higher authorities, an Independence Day Celebration program was organized by the departments of History, Political Science and Pakistan Studies at Govt. Graduate College (W), Model Town, Lahore on August 14, 2026. Ms. Rabia Anwer, HOD Pakistan Studies, was the incharge of program. Ms. Anjum Afshan, Retired Professor of History, was the honourable guest of this event.
The esteemed Principal, Prof. Dr. Shahnez Kousar along with the guest, Vice-Principal, Prof. Dr. Mohsina Munir, Prof. Dr. Shabana Sahar and other faculty members, hoisted the flag. After the recitation of the Quran and Naat, national anthem was sung. There was also a cake-cutting ceremony in this program.
Badges of Pakistan were distributed among the faculty members. English and Urdu speeches were made by the students in which the struggle of our ancestors for this beloved homeland was highlighted with special emphasis on the measures that ought to be taken to maintain this independence.
A dramatic performance prepared by College Dramatic Society was presented which stressed the significance of independence for a nation. National songs were sung which enhanced the enthusiasm of the audience. After that, dua was made for the prosperity and solidarity of Pakistan. By the end of program, certificates were distributed among the participants for their encouragement. A bouquet was presented to the venerable Guest who spared her precious time for this ceremony.
For this event, college building was illuminated with beautiful lights and the whole college was decorated with Pakistani flags and buntings.
