🌿 Symbolic Tree Plantation Ceremony at CSA Upper Mall by GCU Botany Department 🌿
20 June 2025 – Lahore

A team from the Department of Botany, Government College University Lahore (GCU), visited the Civil Services Academy (CSA), Upper Mall campus, to carry out site planning and plantation of symbolic trees representing the diverse flora of Pakistan's provinces and regions.

The GCU delegation included:
👩‍🔬 Prof. Dr. Tehreema Iftikhar – Chairperson, Department of Botany
👨‍🔬 Dr. Zafar Siddiq – Associate Professor & Incharge Botanic Garden
🌱 Mr. Shariq Khawaja – Curator, Botanic Garden, GCU Lahore

CSA was represented by:
👨‍💼 Mr. Usman Ali – Additional Secretary
👨‍💼 Mr. Zahid Hussain – Admin Officer

During the visit, the team finalized suitable plantation sites and planted representative species from Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir, including Phulai, Dhak, Kahu, Jhand, Sohanjana, Chinar, Lahura, and Ber.

This collaborative effort aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting environmental awareness and biodiversity conservation.
