Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, Director, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, visited the Interdisciplinary Research Centre in Biomedical Materials (IRCBM) and held a meeting with faculty members.

During the visit, he explored the scientific laboratories and research facilities at IRCBM, engaging with faculty and gaining insights into the centre’s research activities and infrastructure.
The visit reflects CUI Lahore Campus’s commitment to promoting research excellence, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, Director, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, continued on day 02 the introductory meetings with HODs and faculty members of various departments to strengthen academic collaboration, promote excellence in teaching and research, and set strategic priorities for the campus’s future growth.

During the meetings, the Director emphasized the importance of developing innovative, market-oriented academic programs aligned with industry needs and emerging trends. He emphasized that teaching excellence remains the foremost responsibility of faculty members and encouraged the adoption of modern teaching methodologies, creativity, and innovation to enhance the quality of education.

The Director assured all departments of his full support in addressing their academic and infrastructural needs, including computer laboratories, scientific laboratories, studios, and other essential facilities. He further highlighted plans for additional faculty hiring to strengthen academic departments and reduce dependence on visiting faculty.

Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, Director, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, held one-on-one meetings with Heads of Departments and faculty members to discuss academic priorities, research, and campus growth.

During the meetings, he emphasized the importance of punctuality, professionalism, and becoming role models for students. He encouraged faculty to bring creativity and new dimensions into their lectures and focus on research for the growth of both faculty members and the campus.

Faculty members appreciated the opportunity to interact with the Director and expressed their optimism that, under his leadership, COMSATS Lahore will continue to grow in the right direction and move forward towards greater academic excellence.

An eventual First Day for Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas at COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus

Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, Director, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, began his tenure with a series of introductory meetings with the Heads of Academic and Administrative Departments (HoDs). The meetings focused on academic growth, institutional development, and key priorities for the coming year.

During the meetings, the Director emphasized the importance of adopting a forward-looking approach, aligning departmental plans with the campus’s future growth, setting measurable targets, and strengthening both academic and administrative units. He also encouraged greater individual and collective contributions toward the continued progress of the campus.

On the same day, a delegation from the University of Sargodha (UOS), comprising Prof. Dr. Masood Sarwar Awan, Vice Chancellor; Mr. Waqar Ahmad, Registrar; and Mr. Muhammad Ahmad, Secretary to the Vice Chancellor, paid a congratulatory visit to Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas on assuming charge as Director, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus.

Heartiest Congratulations & Welcome Back to COMSATS Lahore, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas! 🌸

Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas is no stranger to COMSATS Lahore. His association with the campus goes back several years, as he previously served as Director, COMSATS Lahore Campus from 2015 to 2019. During his earlier tenure, his leadership contributed significantly to strengthening the campus, promoting academic development, and fostering an environment conducive to teaching, research, and institutional growth.

Before returning to COMSATS, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas served as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Sargodha, where he provided visionary academic and administrative leadership. His tenure focused on strengthening academic programs, promoting research and innovation, improving institutional systems, and creating greater opportunities for students and faculty. His contributions played an important role in the university’s continued academic and institutional progress.

One of the particularly significant milestones associated with his leadership at COMSATS Lahore was the establishment of the Media and Communication Studies Program in 2018. The program was initiated with the vision of preparing students for the rapidly evolving fields of media, communication, journalism, digital media, and creative industries.

Today, the Department of Media and Communication Studies proudly looks back at this journey and the foundation laid during his leadership. Dr. Sohail Riaz, Head of the Department, along with the entire faculty, extends sincere congratulations to Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas and warmly welcomes him back to COMSATS Lahore.

It is a matter of great pleasure to see a distinguished academic leader and a familiar figure return to the campus.
