11 Types of Bridges You Didn't Know Exist! πŸŒ‰

Discover the 11 main types of bridges used in civil engineering! From simple beam bridges to incredible moving bascule and vertical lift bridges.
Watch till the end to see how they work! Here are the 11 Types of Bridges Explained:

1.Truss Bridge: Uses a strong triangle network to carry heavy train loads.

2.Girder Bridge: Uses heavy, box-like steel beams to support modern highways.

3.Beam Bridge: The simplest design where a flat road rests straight on pillars.

4.Slab Bridge: A short and solid concrete piece, perfect for small canals.

5.Arch (Closed Spandrel): A beautiful curved design with solid stone walls on the sides.

6.Arch (Open Spandrel): A modern arch with open gaps that save concrete and weight.

7.Suspension Bridge: Hangs high in the air using massive, strong steel cables.

8.Floating Bridge: Rests directly on top of the water without any deep pillars.

9.Swing Bridge: Rotates horizontally like a gate to let big ships pass through.

10.Bascule Bridge: Splitting in the middle, it lifts upward just like a castle drawbridge.

11.Vertical Lift Bridge: Acts like an elevator, moving the whole road straight up

Manual coordinate calculation.

Want to master land surveying math?

This tutorial teaches you how to perform manual coordinate calculations without expensive software.
What you will learn:The core formulas for Easting (Ξ” X) and Northing (Ξ” Y).
How to input bearings and distance into a scientific calculator.A complete step-by-step solved exampleFormula Used:
Frist Calculate Bearing on Calculator
Shift Pol( (E2-E1),(N2-N1) = Dist, Bearing
Bearing Save Memori C
Memory A save Start Easting .B save Northing C Save Bearing
Now shift REC(( Required Distance,C( Bearing))
= X+ A Y+B... A memory. B Memory.

Every road Horizontal curve explained

Horizontal Curves (Turns):
Simple Circular - Single basic arc.
Compound - Multiple radii turning same way.
Reverse - "S" shape turning opposite ways.Transition - Gradually changing radius for safety.

Horizontal Curve Elements Explained! πŸ›£οΈπŸ“

Learn all 8 essential elements of a Roads Horizontal Curve πŸ“
πŸ›£οΈHere is the complete engineering breakdown:
R - Curve Radius (Distance from center to the road)
Ξ” / I - Intersection Angle (Total turn angle)
T - Tangent Length (Distance from apex to curve start/end)
L - Curve Length (The physical driving arc distance)
LC - Long Chord (Straight line cutting from start to end)
E - External Distance (The outer gap between apex and curve)
M - Middle Ordinate (The inner clearance distance)
D - Degree of Curve (Sharpness over a 100-foot distance)

Fixed Beam vs Cantilever Beam - Support Condition Matters!
The main difference is their support condition! πŸ‘‡

πŸ”Ή Fixed Beam: Restrained at BOTH ends - Bending in the middle, tension at top near supports.
πŸ”Ή Cantilever Beam: One fixed end, one free end - Maximum bending at the fixed support.

Notice the stress distribution? Red = Tension, Blue = Compression.

Which one is more critical to design? Comment below! πŸ‘‡

Why Concrete and Steel Slip? The Secret of BOND Strength in RCC

Tensile strength of concrete is only 10% of its compressive strength!

Reinforced concrete structures are designed on the assumption that concrete does NOT resist tensile forces. Reinforcement carries all tensile forces transferred by BOND at the interface.

If bond is inadequate, the bars will just slip, losing composite action and the structure will FAIL!

In this video:
βœ… Why bond between concrete and steel is important
βœ… What happens if concrete is not compacted properly
βœ… Why we use ribbed / deformed bars for extra grip
βœ… Real failure of beam without proper bond

Where to Connect Column & Beam? The 1/3 & 1/4 Rule Every Engineer MUST Know!

Details
Pile / Column connections are best made at H/3 height and Beam connections at L/4 distance from the ends.

Why?
Because Bending Moment is minimum at these points, so your joint will be safest and most economical!

This video shows:
βœ… Pole/Column splice at H/3
βœ… Beam splice at L/4
βœ… Mooring / Anchorage of reinforcement at Beam-Column junction & Column Base

3 Advanced Types of Concrete Used in Mega Construction! πŸ—οΈ

Ever wondered how skyscrapers and massive highway bridges are built? In this video, we break down 3 advanced types of concrete that make mega-structures possible! πŸ—οΈ

Here is a quick look at what we cover:
4️⃣ High-Strength Concrete – Engineered with a low water-cement ratio to support the massive weight of skyscrapers.
5️⃣ Prestressed Concrete – Embedded with tightly pulled steel cables to keep long bridges from bending under heavy traffic.
6️⃣ Precast Concrete – Manufactured in a controlled factory environment and shipped to the site for lightning-fast assembly.

Whether you are a civil engineer, student, or architecture enthusiast, this quick guide is packed with useful info!
