A university professor can contribute to society in many ways. Sometimes that contribution is a publication or a research discovery. At other times, it is a carefully designed activity that makes a seemingly difficult idea accessible, a question that sparks curiosity, or a moment of discovery that allows a student to experience the joy of mathematics.
We believe these moments matter. Dr. Imran Anwar
A Calendar of Curiosity, Discovery, and Joy
LUMS Math Circles is more than a calendar of activities. It is a celebration of curiosity, collaboration, and the joy of discovering mathematics.
Through this unique platform, LUMS faculty members come together across disciplines to design and facilitate hands-on mathematical activities for students from Grade 6 through A-Level and Intermediate. Each activity is designed to reveal the excitement of mathematics, encourage exploration, and embody the true spirit of STEM learning.
At the heart of Math Circles is a simple but powerful idea: universities can contribute to education in ways that go beyond research papers and research projects. Faculty members can collaborate across disciplines simply to share the beauty of their subjects, make advanced ideas accessible, and create moments in which students experience the joy of discovery.
Sometimes, a single activity, a surprising question, or an unexpected connection can change the way a young person sees mathematics forever.
This calendar represents our continuing commitment to creating those moments.
We hope these Math Circles will not only help students understand mathematics more deeply, but also inspire them to ask better questions, explore fearlessly, and discover that mathematics is not merely something to learn, but something to experience.
Here is to another year of curiosity, collaboration, and the joy of mathematics.
