Today’s OET examination
AEO, Lahore, Pakistan.

Listening
Part A was easy.
Part B was doable and C was a little tricky .
The audios and questions were pretty straightforward

Reading
Part A Shingles. It was Easy
Part B Fine
Part C One passage was very very difficult.

Writing
Write a referral letter to orthopaedic surgeon for elbow pain after a fall. But there was no single diagnosis many differentials were given and most of the history was irrelevant.

Speaking.
- counselling for osteoarthritis follow up visit after xray (managment)
-ganglion cyst (convince the pt that aspiration is superior to surgery)
- Counselling of the mother as baby had eczema rash all over her body
-counselling of mother for diaper rash
-Stable angina
-hypertension
-migrate (pt wanted dose to be increased)
- finger fracture as a result of sports injury

Today’s OET examination
AEO, Karachi, Pakistan.

Listening
Part A was very easy. Full scoring area!
Part B and C were tough.
The audios and questions were a bit tricky.

Reading
Part A was easy
Part B was also easy
However,Part C was very lengthy and difficult too.
Because all of the questions had similar answer options with minor differences.

Writing
Write a referral letter to a rheumatologist . The patient has been suffering from SLE.
The patient had synovitis on Xray and suffered from malar rash pain and stiffness in joints.

Speaking.
1-Followup visit. Patient prsented with the complaint of excessive sweating idiopathic hyperhidrosis was the diagnosis. You were asked to take history, family history and reassurance .

2- 4 year old child had otitis media and you need to counsel the mother regarding antibiotics and tell her why surgery is not required at the moment

3- superficial burns
You have to examine and tell the patient that he had developed wound infection and needs antibiotic ointment dressing etc

4- recurrent sebaceous cyst
Followup case
Guide the patient about its dressing and ask about new symptoms

Listening
Part A was very easy. Full scoring area.
Part B and C was very difficult.
The audios were clear. Part B and C was super difficult.

Reading
Part A Topic 'snake bite'. again full scoring area. Almost same like jashan.
Part B and Part C were a bit difficult than the practice tests but overall doable.

Writing
Write a referral letter to Child Neurologist. The child has been diagnosed from SLE Diease . u just need to refer. It was quite easy. Normal referral letter. Very easy.

Speaking.

Task 1

A 60-year-old man had fungal ringworm infection. He does gardening and has a pet dog.
He is worried that it's contact dermatitis as he had that before convince the patient that it's not contact dermatititis

Your tasks:

- Take a focused history
- Explain the diagnosis in detail
- Explain the difference between contact dermatitis and tinea corporis
- Explain treatment for fungal infection - Enquire if he was able to go out to gardening again
- Reassure the patient and schedule a follow-up visit

2= One card was about a parent concerned about her child’s (4years old) knee knocking.

we had to ask for symptoms, explain the diagnosis, discuss treatment options and reassure at the end

Role play cards have enough tasks to complete the five minute time.

Part A Topic 'VTE'..again full scoring area.
Part B topic " ITCHING" was easy and Part C " MEDICINE RESEARCH" was a bit difficult.

Writing
Write a referral letter to vascular surgeon for PAD.It was a simple referral letter with lots of initial past history but on the vist related to PAD was relevant

Speaking.
1=You are a doctor in Community Health Centre and son/daughter has come to ask about his father condition that might be suffering from UTI with a background history of an enlarged prostate. Tasks were quite simple...have to ask about symptoms onset and tell about the treatment and convince him to bring his father for check up
2= the patient has come after electrocautery as a followup.It was about not to remove his nasal crest/scab as it helps in wound healing.
Task is to convince the patient to not the remove the scan until wound is healed and to talk about further measures for care of wound after electrocautery

Role play cards have enough tasks to complete the five minute time.
