Farewell Get-Together Held for Faculty member Mr. Parwan Ali Ujjan.

September 23, 2026 (Wednesday):
The Department of Biochemistry, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, organized a simple farewell get-together in the form of a tea party for Mr. Parwan Ali Ujjan, PhD Scholar and Faculty Member of the Department of Biochemistry.

The farewell gathering was arranged to appreciate and encourage Mr. Parwan Ali Ujjan on his selection for further studies at *College of Life Sciences, Anhui University of Agriculture, China*. The faculty members expressed their happiness and congratulated him on this important achievement and wished him success in his future academic journey.

During the get-together, senior faculty members of the Department shared their valuable experiences, offered useful guidelines, and encouraged Mr. Parwan Ali Ujjan to continue his academic and research activities with dedication and commitment.

The gathering concluded with heartfelt prayers and best wishes from all faculty members. They prayed that Allah Almighty may grant Mr. Parwan Ali Ujjan success, make his journey and future endeavors easy, and bless him with further achievements in his academic and professional career.

Workshop on Laboratory Safety, Biochemical Analysis and DNA Extraction Held at Department of Biochemistry, Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur.

September 17, 2026 (Thursday):
The Department of Biochemistry, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, organized an informative and practical workshop for students and teaching staff of the Sindh Institute Health and Technology (SIHAT) affiliated with Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University Larkana. The workshop aimed to provide participants with practical knowledge of laboratory safety, biochemical analysis, laboratory practices, and basic molecular biology techniques.

Dr. Maqbool Ahmed Soomro from Department of Biochemistry was the Facilitator and Trainer for the workshop. Dr. Soomro conducted the practical sessions and demonstrated various laboratory procedures to the participants in a clear and comprehensive manner.

During the workshop, the participants were introduced to important laboratory policies, safety protocols, and laboratory safety rules. They were also briefed about different types of laboratory hazards, hazardous chemicals, their safe handling, and necessary precautionary measures while working in a laboratory.

The participants were further introduced to the basic principles and practical aspects of macronutrient analysis, particularly the analysis of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Practical demonstrations were also given to help students understand the basic concepts and procedures involved in biochemical analysis.

A practical demonstration on DNA extraction methods was also conducted, providing students with an introductory understanding of molecular biology techniques and the importance of DNA analysis in modern biological sciences.

At the concluding session, the participants were given valuable guidance regarding the scope and importance of Biochemistry in modern science, health, research, biotechnology, and related fields. They were also briefed about the academic environment and achievements of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, as well as the opportunities available to students pursuing higher education in different scientific disciplines.

The students were encouraged to share their experience with their families and relatives and to consider the relevant departments of Shah Abdul Latif University for higher education, where they can benefit from a disciplined academic environment, laboratory facilities, qualified faculty, and opportunities for research and professional development.

Proud Moment!

Dr. Abdul Rehman Phull and Dr. Sadia Qamar presented their research at the International Conference on Emerging Trends in Bioinformatics and Biosciences (ICETB 2026) held at Hazara University, Mansehra.

They were joined by our research students and final-year project students — Ghulam Mustafa, Asif Ali, Asim Ali, Abdul Qudous, and Abdul Hanan — who also presented their research and final-year projects at the conference.

A wonderful achievement reflecting the hard work, dedication, and academic excellence of our faculty and students.

Congratulations to Dr. Abdul Rehman Phull, Dr. Sadia Qamar, and all the students involved! Keep shining and making us proud.
