The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“It is better for a person to sit on a burning ember until it burns his clothes down to his skin than to sit on a grave.”

This hadith emphasizes the prohibition of sitting on graves. Islam strictly discourages using graves as places to sit, rest, or gather, as such actions may lead to excessive veneration of the dead and could resemble practices of previous nations who went astray. The Prophet ﷺ used a strong comparison to show that even extreme discomfort is preferable to disrespecting graves, highlighting the importance of maintaining the sanctity of graves and keeping worship directed solely to Allah.
