The Department of Media Studies at proudly facilitated an insightful and empowering workshop organized by The Saheli Project under the guidance of Ma’am Najeeha.

The session was conducted by Hiba R. Khan, focusing on women entrepreneurship, financial management, customer retention, and the challenges women often face while stepping into the business world.

Through her experience in mentorship, leadership development, and community empowerment, encouraged aspiring women entrepreneurs to confidently pursue their ideas despite societal barriers and self doubt.

The workshop created a meaningful space for learning, discussion, mentorship, and guidance, where participants also received valuable feedback regarding their businesses and future goals.

The Saheli Project is a women led initiative started by Media Studies students with the vision of women empowerment and creating a supportive platform where women can grow, nurture their ideas, feel heard, and support one another. Through mentorship, workshops, collaboration, and opportunities for small businesses, the initiative aims to build a strong community that empowers women to thrive both personally and professionally.

The Department of Media Studies proudly presented the Final Display of 360 Degree Campaigns by BS (Media) 5 students, showcasing the culmination of their learning in the course Introduction to Advertising and PR.

Students collaborated with real brands as well as developed campaigns for their own entrepreneurial ventures, creating complete 360 degree communication strategies. The projects reflected both strategic planning and hands on ex*****on across ATL, BTL, and TTL campaigns, bringing ideas to life through print advertisements, digital campaigns, DVCs, and professional brand photoshoots.

All projects were independently developed by students under the guidance of Ms. Javairia Farhan, demonstrating strong creative thinking, industry awareness, and practical advertising skills.

A special highlight of the event was the presence of our alumnus Mr. Awais Khalid, who joined as a jury member along with another esteemed guest, Mr. Daniyal Ahmed. Their evaluation, appreciation, and constructive feedback provided students with valuable industry insight that will support their future professional growth.

The final display was a great success and reflected the department’s commitment to experiential learning and industry aligned education.

The Department of Media Studies successfully organized an insightful guest lecture for BS 6 students on the topic “Media Laws and Ethics in Digital Journalism.”

We were honored to welcome our proud alumna Rida Lodhi, currently serving as Social Media Editor at Dawn.com, as the guest lecturer for the session.

During the lecture, Rida Lodhi engaged students in an interactive discussion on the evolving challenges of digital journalism, emphasizing the importance of ethical reporting, responsible content creation, media laws, misinformation, and the role of journalists in the fast paced digital landscape. Drawing from her professional experience, she shared valuable industry insights and practical perspectives that helped students better understand the realities of modern digital media.

The session proved to be highly informative and impactful, encouraging students to think critically about ethics, accountability, and professionalism in contemporary journalism. It was inspiring for students to learn directly from an accomplished alumna who is actively contributing to one of Pakistan’s leading media organizations.

The Department of Media Studies proudly showcased the Final Display of Creative Ad Campaigns by BS (Media) 7 students, marking the successful culmination of their courses, Campaign Design and Copy & Layout Design.

Students collaborated with real brands as well as developed campaigns for their own entrepreneurial ventures, creating complete 360° marketing campaigns across print, digital, and broadcast media. From conceptualization to ex*****on, students independently handled every aspect of the projects under the guidance of Mr. Abdul Ahad Khan and Ms. Javairia Farhan.

The projects included digital campaign creation and optimization, social media growth strategies, DVCs and reels, complete production and editing, professional photoshoots, and branding stationery including business cards, letterheads, mugs, and other promotional materials.

A special highlight of the event was the presence of our proud alumna Ailya Kazmi, who joined as a jury member. Her valuable feedback, appreciation, and professional insights provided students with meaningful guidance that will greatly benefit their future careers in the media and advertising industry.

The final display reflected the creativity, strategic thinking, technical skills, and dedication of our students, making the event a remarkable success.

The Department of Media Studies recently organized a Guest Speaker session for BS (Media)-7 under the guidance of Learning Facilitator Syed Ali Imam, featuring renowned journalist Sidra Dar.

With a journalism career spanning since 2010, Sidra Dar shared her professional journey and valuable field insights from her work with leading media organizations including Geo News, NEO News, Voice of America Urdu, and her current role at SOCH Media as Senior Correspondent and Producer.

Her engaging session highlighted the broader responsibilities of journalism beyond headlines, emphasizing coverage of critical areas such as politics, human rights, minority issues, gender representation, climate change, the 2022 floods in Pakistan, and international affairs grounded in courage, ethics, and integrity. She also addressed the challenges faced by women in journalism, encouraging students to pursue media practice with confidence, resilience, and professionalism.

The interactive session proved to be highly insightful for students, offering them the opportunity to learn directly from a working journalist contributing actively to public discourse through impactful storytelling and research-based reporting.

The Media Studies Department was honored to welcome Syed Faisal Karim on 11 May 2026 for a visit to our media facilities.

Currently serving as Morning News Anchor at BOL Network, and previously associated with ARY News and SAMAA TV, Mr. Faisal Karim explored BU TV, BU Web Radio, and our Podcasting Studio, appreciating the department’s state-of-the-art learning environment.

The visit also opened discussions for future collaborations including industry visits, summer short courses, production training, and enhanced learning opportunities for students.

The Department of Media Studies at Bahria University successfully conducted its Corporate Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting on 27th April 2026, bringing together esteemed industry professionals and thought leaders.

We were honored to host Rida Lodhi, Sarwar, Saleem Mughal, Muhammad Fahad, and Mustafa Hashmi, whose valuable insights made the session highly impactful.

The meeting included a comprehensive review of the current curriculum and its alignment with industry needs, along with insightful recommendations for new and future-focused courses. Discussions also explored internship and placement opportunities to enhance students’ professional readiness. In addition, participants were introduced to the availability of BUTV and BU Web Radio as platforms for external collaborations and projects.

A special highlight of the session was welcoming back our proud alumna, Rida Lodhi. It was a pleasure to have her return as a guest, sharing her experience, feedback, and valuable perspective with the department.

The Department of Media Studies at Bahria University conducted an insightful guest session on 28th April 2026, featuring Akbar Ali.

With an extensive background in journalism, including his roles at 365 News, Express News, Dawn News, and Geo News, he brought a wealth of experience and perspective to the session.

The discussion revolved around Pakistan’s relationship with the United States, focusing on trade, leadership dynamics, and the evolution of past relations. Students also gained valuable insights from his visit to American news headquarters, offering a global perspective on media practices and international journalism.

The session provided students with a deeper understanding of geopolitical communication and the role of media in shaping international narratives.

The session was designed to provide students with a valuable opportunity to interact with a well-known personality, helping them build confidence and enhance their on-screen communication skills through live questioning and discussion.

With the excitement of the ongoing Pakistan Super League, students actively engaged in conversations around current matches, players, and emerging cricket trends. The discussion made the session highly dynamic, relevant, and insightful.
