In 1973 Mr. Georg Ludwig Rexroth read in Lohr, that a large number of persons mainly from the then East Pakistan having settled in Orangi, did not even have drinking water. He immediately came to Karachi and started a humanitarian project to pump water from underground water tanks to water tanks built on the hills of Orangi, from where water was then supplied by pipelines to the people living in Orangi. After subsequent visits, in 1991 an Industrial Home was started at the present location. This was followed by a small school in 1993. Both were housed in approximately half of our present building. After acquisition of the adjacent plot, further construction took place in 1994. The two sons of Mr. Georg Ludwig Rexroth namely Mr. Gerd Rexroth and Mr. Bernd Rexroth visited the School and Industrial Home. After some seven years, the Industrial Home was closed in 1998. In April 1999 the present Managing Trustee took over followed by the previous Trustee, Mr. Syed Sarfaraz Hussain Siddiqi, in June 1999. All efforts were directed towards improving the School with the cooperation and funds from the Georg Ludwig Rexroth Foundation, Germany. After over 10 years of devoted interest and help in the School and Trust, Mr. Siddiqi resigned in February 2010 due to personal reasons. Syed Aqeel Zafar-ul-Hasan joined as Trustee in March 2010. The Trustees are the guiding, motivating and controlling strength of the Trust and School. The existing Laboratory was completely revamped and modernized into a Higher Secondary School Level Laboratory. All necessary apparatus, equipment, experiment material, exhibits, samples and costly models have been made available. A fresh, roomy and well-lit Library was started 17 years ago. It is regularly updated with fresh books and magazines. A Computer serves for reference and Library Management purposes. We now have a multi-media Projector with Screen and Stand. Our Computer Lab was started 18 years ago and has 15 computers in LAN environment. Functional Furniture and good lighting are available. Hardware and software are regularly updated. Presently we have Pentium IV Processors and LED Flat screen Monitors. Internet connection is available since Five years. Complete practical facilities are available for Home Economics, where table setting and serving are taught side by side to cooking, baking and budgeting. Vocational Training was started some 15 years ago. Several interesting Short Courses are made available for Cutting and Sewing, Arts & Crafts, Embroidery, Batiq and Tie and Dye. Some 15 diverse Sewing Machines and allied facilities are provided. Adult Literacy Classes were re-started 15 years ago. These are mainly for mothers, but also for children, who have missed joining school at the correct age. The children are then re-integrated into the schooling process from Class 6. Complete school operations have been computerized since 14 years. Our School is a living example and tribute to private initiative of Germany and Pakistan in creating an exemplary Institution through dedicated and concerted efforts. Results, as a measure of imparted quality education, make the School the pride of Orangi Town and the envy of many other schools elsewhere in the City.
