ٹیپو سلطان شھید رح کی یاد میں کانفرنس
23 مئ 2026 بروز ھفتہ انجمن یادگار ٹیپو سلطان رح(رجسٹرڈ )کے زیر اہتمام ٹیپو سلطان ھال میں ایک کانفرنس منعقد ہوئی ۔
کانفرنس میں جامعہ کراچی کے صدر شعبہ سیاسیات پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد علی بشیر صاحب نے شعبہ سیاسیات کے اساتذہ اور طلبہ وطالبات کے ہمراہ شرکت کی ۔
ڈاکٹر محمد علی بشیر صاحب نے کلیدی خطاب کرتے ہوئے ٹیپو سلطان کے سیاسی افکار اور عمدہ حکمرانی کے اصولوں پر روشنی ڈالی اور ان کو گڈ گورننس اور پبلک ایڈمنسٹریشن کے مطالعات کے لیے بنیادی ماخذ قرار دیا اور ان کے افکار کوجدید معاصر اطلاقی تنقید کے میزان پر پرکھنے کی ضرورت پر زور دیا اور اس ضمن میں اپنے مکمل علمی و عملی تعاون کا یقین دلایا ۔
کانفرنس سے سینٹر جاوید جبار صاحب نے خطاب کرتے ہوئے ٹیپو سلطان کے انصاف پسندی اور جدیدیت طرازی کی وضاحتکی اور اس کے معاصر اطلاقات کو سمجھنے کی اہمیت پر زور دیا کانفرنس سےپروفیسر ڈاکٹر سید عاکف الدین صاحب نے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کانفرنس کو ایک نمایاں سنگ میل قرار دیا اور اس علمی سلسلے کو خوش آئند قرار دیا ۔
پروفیسر ڈاکٹر نرگس رشید صاحبہ نے ٹیپو سلطان کی جنگی تاریخ کے ساتھ ساتھ اس کی ریشم کی مصنوعات سمیت دیگر ایجادات پر سیر حاصل بحث کی اور ٹیپو سلطان شھید رح کی اقتصادی اصلاحات کی وضاحت کی آخر میں کانفرنس کی روح رواں ثروت جہاں میسوری صاحبہ نے اظہار تشکر پیش کیا اور تقسیم شیلڈز کے ساتھ یہ پروقار تقریب اختتام کو پہنچی ۔

Chairman Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali was Keynote Speaker at the HEC-sponsored International Conference, Khairpur University, and nominated as Expert for MS/PhD Exams 2026. The visit paves the way for future faculty-student exchange programs.

Faculty and students of the Department of Political Science participated in a two-day international conference on “Global Security Paradigm” held at PC Hotel, Karachi. The conference was organized by the Pakistan Institute of International Affairs (PIIA), Karachi.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, Chairman of the Political Science Department, met with Prof. Dr. Rummana Zaheer, the newly appointed Chairperson of the Economics Department, to congratulate her on her new role. The meeting provided an opportunity for both chairpersons to discuss upcoming events, share concerns, and explore potential collaborations to address these issues and organize impactful programs.

The Office of the Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Karachi, in collaboration with the National Bank of Pakistan, organized a National Financial Literacy Training Program on April 29, 2026, at the Audio Visual Centre.
The program was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Samina Saeed, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Karachi. The session featured Mr. S. M. Shahid Raza, Vice President and Branch Manager of the National Bank of Pakistan, as the keynote speaker. He delivered an insightful lecture on financial literacy, highlighting the importance of financial awareness and responsible financial management in today’s economic environment.
Mr. Haroon, representing the National Bank of Pakistan, conducted an interactive question-and-answer session at the end of the program, engaging participants and addressing their queries.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Dr. Suwaibah Qadri, Focal Person of the training program, who appreciated the collaboration and efforts of all stakeholders in making the session successful.

It is with immense pride and a deep sense of accomplishment that I present the first-ever newsletter of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. This inaugural edition marks a historic milestone for our faculty. Its release is uniquely significant as it coincides with the completion of the first year of Prof. Dr. Samina Saeed’s tenure as Dean. Over the past twelve months, her dedicated leadership has fostered a vibrant, progressive, and academically enriching environment that has revitalized our scholarly community.

Within these pages, you will find a reflection of the dynamic engagement and academic excellence that have become the hallmarks of our faculty under her guidance. This newsletter serves as both a record of our recent achievements and a bridge to future innovations.

*Students of Political Science Department Visit Women Media Centre*

On April 24, 2026, a delegation of students from the Department of Political Science and Public Policy , University of Karachi, visited the Women Media Centre under the supervision of Dr. Suwaibah Qadri.This visit was part of students training and internship.
During the visit, the students met Ms. Fouzia Shaheen, CEO and Founder of the Women Media Centre, who interacted with them and shared insights into the organization’s mission and work. Ms. Iraj Atiq, Senior Program Manager, also engaged with the students and guided them through the Centre’s activities.
The delegation toured the studio, where students gained practical experience by recording their own segments. They also learned about scriptwriting, studio production, podcasting, and the role of media in empowering women.
The Women Media Centre team conducted interactive sessions, actively engaging students and providing them with valuable exposure to media practices. The Centre also offered internship opportunities to interested students.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, Chairman of the Department of Political Science, University of Karachi, appreciated the efforts of Dr. Suwaibah Qadri in organizing this informative visit. He expressed optimism about future collaboration and indicated that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the department and the Women Media Centre is likely to be signed in the near future.
