Okay guys, here is the solution to forensics. If you have any questions regarding the solution please post them here or email me at [email protected] and I will try to get back to you as soon as I can.

Murderer: Rhys Williams (Secretary)
Accomplice: Meredith Stanford (Wife)
Motive: The money the wife was going to inherit through Harry Stanford’s (millionaire) will and they both were having an affair.

Solution:
1. They wanted to lay the foundation for a su***de to be believed and therefore the secretary posted the letter to the detective (Bentley). The millionaire did not know anything about this letter. This was important because the detective was famous and so the information he presented would carry a lot of weight. This story was fed to the detective and when the police came it was further strengthened when the wife said the story was true.
2. On the day of the interview, the millionaire went to sleep at 10 as the daughter (Julia) said he did every night. The important things to note here are that the secretary was previously an actor and had similar build and height as the millionaire.
3. The secretary came back shortly after leaving for the art exhibition at 8:30. He let himself in with his own key to the door (the butler, Edwards, in his interview, says that every member of the household had their own keys).
4. The secretary set himself up in his office and created the atmosphere. This was important because even though the detective had not seen any member of the household before it was imperative that the secretary would not be recognized by the detective later.
5. The meeting was held between the secretary and the detective.
6. The secretary then circulated the story of a fungal infection just to have an excuse to wear gloves. The real reason being that he did not want to get his fingerprints on anything.
7. On the day of the murder, the secretary took out the gun from the millionaire’s drawer, which was kept unlocked, and hid it in his own office.
8. The journalists came and sat down and the secretary went into his own office.
9. At exactly 4:30, the secretary took the stick (which he had also hidden in his office in the morning), reached out and tapped the window of the millionaire’s office. (As you all would have found out that the stick was a little over 0.8 metres long. If you hold it in one hand and reach out, your arm will easily add 0.2 metres to the length with which it would be possible to tap the window of the adjacent office as it was 1.0 metre away).
10. In his nervousness the secretary drops the stick to the ground. Due to the tap on the window the millionaire comes up to the window and looks out.
11. The secretary, waiting for this opportunity, shoots.
12. The secretary waits for about 15 minutes and then comes out with the gun hidden in his box of papers.
13. The door of the office is broken down. The secretary sends the butler to call the police and the journalists downstairs. He is left alone with the body.
14. He quickly takes the gun out presses the millionaire’s fingers on it and lays it beside his body. He then goes up to the window and closes it. A little part of his glove tears off on the nail, but he does not notice it in his hurry. He then goes up to call the wife and daughter.
15. The butler comes up and notices the office is empty. Taking this opportunity he steals the money off the millionaire’s desk (a form of his own revenge).
16. The secretary comes down with the daughter and wife. In the office the wife notices the piece of glove caught on the window, but does not do anything about it for fear of being noticed. She then fabricated the story of tearing her handkerchief during the interview with the police.
17. The butler hid the money in the recently dug garden when he went outside because he was feeling “sick”.
