Al-Ma'idah - Verse 19

يَٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ قَدْ جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولُنَا يُبَيِّنُ لَكُمْ عَلَىٰ فَتْرَةࣲ مِّنَ ٱلرُّسُلِ أَن تَقُولُوا۟ مَا جَآءَنَا مِنۢ بَشِيرࣲ وَلَا نَذِيرࣲۖ فَقَدْ جَآءَكُم بَشِيرࣱ وَنَذِيرࣱۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءࣲ قَدِيرࣱ

Maarif-ul-Quran:
O people of the Book, Our Messenger has come to you making things clear to you after a gap between Messengers, lest you were to say, "There has not come to us a bearer of good news, and a warner." So, now there has come to you a bearer of good news, and a warner. And Allah is powerful over everything.

Ghafir - Verse 60
Qur'an
وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ٱدْعُونِيٓ أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِي سَيَدْخُلُونَ جَهَنَّمَ دَاخِرِينَ

And your Lord has said, "Call Me, I will respond to you. Definitely those who show arrogance against worshipping Me shall enter Jahannam, disgraced.

Surah Al-Falaq (الفلق) and Surah An-Naas (الناس) are two very important surahs for seeking Allah’s protection. Together they are called Al-Mu‘awwidhatayn (المعوّذتان) — the two surahs through which we seek refuge in Allah.

🌿 Significance of Surah Al-Falaq

Surah Al-Falaq teaches us to seek Allah’s protection from external harms, including:

The evils of creation

The darkness and harms that may occur at night

Harm caused by those who practice magic

Envy and the harm that can come from an envious person

🌿 Significance of Surah An-Naas

Surah An-Naas teaches us to seek Allah’s protection from internal and unseen harms, particularly:

Evil whispers

The temptation of Shaytan

Whispers that affect a person's heart and thoughts

The influence of evil among humans and jinn

🤲 Their importance in the Sunnah

The Prophet ﷺ regularly recited Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq and An-Naas as part of his daily protection. He would recite them three times in the morning and evening, and before sleeping he would recite them, blow lightly into his hands, and wipe over his body.

So, reading these surahs isn't merely a routine—it is a way of turning to Allah, acknowledging that He alone is our Protector, and placing our trust in Him.

If you're reading them because you're going through a difficult or unsettling period, you can recite them calmly with the intention of seeking Allah's protection and peace, without becoming fearful or thinking that something bad must necessarily be happening.

🌿 Jumu'ah Mubarak 🌿

Don't let this blessed day pass without reciting Surah Al-Kahf.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

«"Whoever recites Surah Al-Kahf on Friday will have a light that shines for him until the next Friday."»

May Allah ﷻ fill our hearts with the light of the Qur'an, forgive our sins, accept our du'as, and bless us with steadfast faith. آمين.

📖 Take a few moments today to recite Surah Al-Kahf, send abundant ṣalawāt upon the Prophet ﷺ, and make sincere du'a during the blessed hours of Jumu'ah.
