The Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi is the premier business school of Pakistan. IBA in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Overseas PhD / DBA Scholarship Scheme has launched a Faculty Development Program (FDP) with the key objective to encourage, motivate and support young and talented individuals of Pakistan & AJK who are interested in pursuing higher studies (PhD level or MS leading to PhD) abroad and make a career in academics & research.
FDP is one of key pillars of IBA’s strategic plan. Under this initiative, high potential candidates meeting the outlined eligibility criteria and successfully completing the selection process are offered Overseas Scholarship, with the understanding that they will contribute as faculty in IBA, Karachi upon completion of their degrees.
Scholarships are available in the following areas of study:
Marketing
Entrepreneurship
Strategy
Organizational Development
Organizational Behaviour
Finance
Accounting
Economics
The program aims to encourage candidates who have already secured admission, or are already enrolled in a PhD program or MS/MPhil leading to PhD Program in the specified field, in a renowned foreign university. Such candidates will be directly evaluated through the Selection Process for Overseas Scholarship, subject to their fulfilling the outlined Basic Criteria for Application.
In addition, interested candidates who meet the Basic Criteria for Application and have intention to do PhD but have not as yet secured admission, are also encouraged to apply. Such candidates will be taken through a Support Program in which IBA will support their efforts to meet the eligibility criteria for scholarship within a stipulated time period.
Salient features of this Support Program include:
i. Opportunity to work under the direct supervision of a PhD qualified faculty member, in IBA’s state-of-the-art learning environment and get individual attention and support in:
identification & selection of university / institute for admission
guidance & support in admission process
guidance in preparation of required aptitude tests (GRE/GMAT)
development of research proposals, and
career guidance and counseling
ii. Opportunity to assist faculty members in teaching.
iii. Payment of monthly stipend.
iv. Upon selection for Overseas Scholarship, these candidates will be eligible for fully funded scholarship for Self (4 years for MS leading to PhD programs and 3 years for PhD programs); and
v. Appointment as full time faculty member of IBA.

Note: All faculty appointments will be made under the Overseas PhD/DBA Scholarship scheme of IBA’s Faculty Development Program (FDP), therefore the scholars must have to proceed abroad for PhD or leading to PhD studies by 2013
