DUET Secures EU Funding for AI-Powered Healthcare Research

Collaboration with UK and Norway focuses on TinyML, cybersecurity, and community health

Karachi, 12th September 2026 — Dawood University of Engineering & Technology (DUET) has secured two EU grants for 2026 for research on “Intelligent Predictive Virtual Healthcare for the Community and Home (AI RPM)”.

The projects are being led by Team Leads: Prof. Dr. Samreen Hussain, Vice Chancellor, DUET and Dr. Abdullah Lakhan, Associate Professor – FoI&CS.

Funding & Partner Institutions:

1. LCSF26009 – Leap Digital Health Hub, University of Bristol, UK & DUET | €5,000

2. ICA2509 – Integrated Care Academy, University of the West of England, UK & DUET | €5,000

Additional collaboration with partners in Norway.

Project Focus:

DUET’s role centers on edge deployment in Pakistan — engineering teams are deploying low-power TinyML models on wearables and microcontrollers for local communities to enable real-time health alerts.

DUET researchers have also presented papers at MobiWis 2026, Spain and ACAI 2026 on AI-enabled threat detection and zero-day cybersecurity for healthcare IoT systems.

This achievement reflects DUET’s commitment to applied research, global partnerships, and technology for public service.

DUET Innovates for Public Service!

Alhamdulillah, the Department of Electronic Engineering, DUET has successfully designed and delivered a functional E-Cycle for Rescue 1122 operations.

This milestone project was led by Dr. Rauf, Associate Professor & Head of Department, as part of an MS Thesis project.

It marks a proud collaboration between a government entity and Dawood University, showcasing how DUET’s engineering talent is directly contributing to community welfare and emergency services.

It’s a significant milestone with the successful design and delivery of a functional E-Cycle tailored for Rescue 1122 operations.
