Muhammad Asad Wasim Khan
After being rejected from a well known business institute, Asad went on a mission of seeking redemption for his failures and it was at that time he took the risk and initiative of starting his own business. Sometimes by losing a battle you find a new way to win the war and Asad was one of those few guys who turned his failures into success and now blessed with further accomplishments he has recently started an advertising company AMF advertising with his childhood friends.
Asad’s company designs logos, bill boards and brochures for businessmen, currently he has expanded his advertising company with the inclusion of SMS and email marketing services for clients.Asad believes that building relationships is the most important aspect of entrepreneurship. According to him, ‘Your network is your net worth”, at the end of the day it’s all about how good your connections are with people as it is said that “Treasure your relationships, not your possessions.”
Asad has three partners in his company and each of them is designated with a specific role, he believes that all his partners are equally responsible for establishing this company. Since his company is a start-up he is working on capturing as much clients as he can for further growth and expansion.

What has been the most effective promotional strategy in your start-up?
I believe in approaching directly to my customers (direct marketing), people get to know about me and my company really easily in this way. It provides more opportunities for feedback from consumers about what their requirements are regarding designs and layouts.

Do you feel entrepreneurship is necessary in the present world? or are jobs enough for people to have a successful lifestyle?
In the 21st century it’s really difficult to have a proper lifestyle with a job, especially in a country like Pakistan. People should come up with their own setup if they want to grow and achieve something. I’ve seen people managing their jobs and business together. You can’t just emerge in your life with a job oriented mentality; you need to think out of the box.

Shabbir Jawed

Shabbir runs an online store and wholesale business of diversified items related to fashion specially man’s accessories. He played the right move when he took advantage of the growing trend of online businesses and sold his father’s items online to an extraordinary response. It was no stopping for shabbir from that day onwards and with the immense support of his parents, siblings, friends and the encouragement of his teachers, Shabbir got the courage to establish his own company “S&J”. According to Shabbir “If you start a thing and the going gets tough, don't leave it incomplete. Finish it with high intensity”. He successfully manages his work, studies and personal life through multi tasking and according to Shabbir, his employees are his trump card in contributing towards the success of his business.

What advice would you give to SZABIST students who want to be entrepreneurs?
To be a successful entrepreneur you should follow your dreams and your plans despite of the hardships and obstacles that you face on your way. Never give up, and be confident in what you do. There may be tough times, but the difficulties which you face will make you more determined to achieve your objectives and to win against all the odds.

Where will your entrepreneurial journey take you in 10 years’ time?
I have diverse and numerous ideas for future and a major one is to establish a supermarket with a different concept where items will be displayed on computer/screens. My basic aim is to provide my customers with convenience by technological innovation.
