The Department of Media Studies at Bahria University proudly celebrates the successful ex*****on of the final project by BS (Media) 8 students for their course Event Management, conducted under the guidance of their instructor Sir Abdul Ahad.
The students organized a beautifully curated evening titled Shaam-e-Ghazal, showcasing their creativity, coordination, and professional event management skills. From guest handling and finance management to marketing, promotions, and on-ground ex*****on, the entire event was independently planned and managed by the students.
The event brought together industry professionals, alumni, and distinguished guests, strengthening industry connections and fostering meaningful engagement between academia and the media industry. The evening was filled with soulful music, engaging activities, and a delightful food experience, creating a memorable atmosphere for all attendees.
Shaam-e-Ghazal stood as a testament to the students’ dedication, teamwork, and practical learning, reflecting the department’s commitment to experiential education and industry relevant training.

The Department of Media Studies successfully organized an insightful guest lecture for BS 6 students on the topic “Media Laws and Ethics in Digital Journalism.”
We were honored to welcome our proud alumna Rida Lodhi, currently serving as Social Media Editor at Dawn.com, as the guest lecturer for the session.
During the lecture, Rida Lodhi engaged students in an interactive discussion on the evolving challenges of digital journalism, emphasizing the importance of ethical reporting, responsible content creation, media laws, misinformation, and the role of journalists in the fast paced digital landscape. Drawing from her professional experience, she shared valuable industry insights and practical perspectives that helped students better understand the realities of modern digital media.
The session proved to be highly informative and impactful, encouraging students to think critically about ethics, accountability, and professionalism in contemporary journalism. It was inspiring for students to learn directly from an accomplished alumna who is actively contributing to one of Pakistan’s leading media organizations.

The Saheli Project organised an insightful and empowering workshop conducted by Hiba R. Khan, focused on women entrepreneurship, financial management, customer retention, and the challenges women often face when stepping into the business world under the guidance of Ma’am Najeeha.
Through Hiba’s experience in mentorship, leadership development, and community empowerment, she encouraged aspiring women entrepreneurs to confidently pursue their business ideas despite societal barriers and self-doubt. ✨
The workshop created a space for learning, discussion, and guidance, where participants also received valuable feedback and mentorship for their businesses and future goals.
The Saheli Project is a women-led initiative started by Media Studies students with the vision of women empowerment and creating a supportive platform where women can grow, nurture their ideas, feel heard, and support one another. Through mentorship, workshops, collaboration, and opportunities for small businesses, The Saheli Project aims to build a community that empowers women to develop their potential and thrive both personally and professionally.

The Department of Media Studies at Bahria University Karachi proudly presented the Final Display of 360 Degree Campaigns by BS (Media) 5 students, showcasing the culmination of their learning in the course Introduction to Advertising and PR.
Students collaborated with real brands as well as developed campaigns for their own entrepreneurial ventures, creating complete 360 degree communication strategies. The projects reflected both strategic planning and hands on ex*****on across ATL, BTL, and TTL campaigns, bringing ideas to life through print advertisements, digital campaigns, DVCs, and professional brand photoshoots.
All projects were independently developed by students under the guidance of Ms. Javairia Farhan, demonstrating strong creative thinking, industry awareness, and practical advertising skills.
A special highlight of the event was the presence of our alumnus Mr. Awais Khalid, who joined as a jury member along with another esteemed guest, Mr. Daniyal Ahmed. Their evaluation, appreciation, and constructive feedback provided students with valuable industry insight that will support their future professional growth.
The final display was a great success and reflected the department’s commitment to experiential learning and industry aligned education.

The Department of Media Studies proudly showcased the Final Display of Creative Ad Campaigns by BS (Media) 7 students, marking the successful culmination of their courses, Campaign Design and Copy & Layout Design.
Students collaborated with real brands as well as developed campaigns for their own entrepreneurial ventures, creating complete 360° marketing campaigns across print, digital, and broadcast media. From conceptualization to ex*****on, students independently handled every aspect of the projects under the guidance of Mr. Abdul Ahad Khan and Ms. Javairia Farhan.
The projects included digital campaign creation and optimization, social media growth strategies, DVCs and reels, complete production and editing, professional photoshoots, and branding stationery including business cards, letterheads, mugs, and other promotional materials.
A special highlight of the event was the presence of our proud alumna Ailya Kazmi, who joined as a jury member. Her valuable feedback, appreciation, and professional insights provided students with meaningful guidance that will greatly benefit their future careers in the media and advertising industry.
The final display reflected the creativity, strategic thinking, technical skills, and dedication of our students, making the event a remarkable success.

We were honored to welcome Sidra Dar as a Guest Speaker for the BS Media Science class at Bahria University under the guidance of Learning Facilitator Syed Ali Imam.
With an inspiring journalism journey that began in 2010, Sidra Dar shared valuable insights from her experience working with leading media organizations including Geo News, NEO Network, Voice of America Urdu, and currently SOCH Media, where she serves as Senior Correspondent and Producer.
Her discussion with students highlighted the real responsibilities of journalism beyond headlines covering politics, human rights, minorities, gender issues, climate change, the 2022 floods in Pakistan, and important international affairs with courage and integrity. She also openly spoke about the challenges faced by women in journalism, sharing her experiences and encouraging students to pursue media with confidence, professionalism, and resilience.
It was truly an engaging and motivating session for our BS Media Science students, who had the opportunity to learn directly from a journalist actively shaping public discourse through impactful storytelling and research.
