Marking a successful academic initiative, the 7th semester students of the Art & Interior Design Department at Ra’ana Liaquat Ali Khan Government College of Home Economics, Karachi conducted a “Texture Art” workshop on 11 February 2026 at the Rangoonwala Auditorium as part of their Internship A.
The event promoted creative expression and hands-on learning, with enthusiastic participation from students and faculty, reflecting the department’s commitment to innovation and academic excellence.
NOTICE
This is to inform all concerned that classes for the 3rd, 5th, and 7th semesters will commence on 8th January.
The last date for submission of admission fees for Semester 1 (2026) is also 8th January.
Additionally, the submission of admission forms for students of the 3rd, 5th, and 7th semesters will start from 8th January.
All students are advised to comply with the schedule accordingly.

A Moment of Distinction for the Art and Interior Design Department
Ra'ana Liaquat Ali Khan Government College of Home Economics, Karachi
Hamna Kapadia, Bushra Muattar, and Afifa Moazzam, students of the Art and Interior Design Department, successfully presented their research paper at the 3rd International Conference on Media and Social Development, held at Sindh Madressatul Islam University, Karachi.
The conference was themed “Emerging Trends of Research in Media Studies.” Under the supervision of Ms. Uzma Moin, the students presented their research titled “Impact of Global Media Exposure on Interior Colour Preference in Emerging Cities.”
Their valuable research contribution was highly appreciated by the session chairs and conference organizers, highlighting the academic excellence and research potential of the college.

Residence Practical Programme | Experiential & Social Learning
The Residence Practical Programme, a core component of the 4th semester syllabus, was successfully conducted from 1st–23rd November at Ra'ana Liaquat Ali Khan Government College of Home Economics, Karachi, under the supervision of Students Residence Incharge Ms.Shehnaz Jawed, Associate Professor.
During this programme, BS 4 students managed the residence house under faculty supervision, with mentorship support from BS 6 senior students. The participants actively planned menus and budgets for low-, middle-, and high-income groups, rotated responsibilities including managerial, cooking, and cleaning roles, and organized social events such as a Friends Party and a Mother’s Party.
This programme offered valuable hands-on exposure to management, leadership, teamwork, budgeting, and social responsibility, making it a meaningful example of experiential and social learning beyond the traditional academic setting.

Project Management Activity | Meena Bazaar Mela
The BS-VIII students of the Department of Residential Management and Entrepreneurship at Ra'ana Liaquat Ali Khan Government College of Home Economics, Karachi organized a vibrant Meena Bazaar Mela on 3rd December. The campus came alive with colorful stalls showcasing handicrafts, clothing, art, jewelry, cosmetics, and a variety of delicious food items.
More than just a festive event, the mela served as a practical learning experience, empowering young girls to develop entrepreneurial skills, confidence, and real-world business exposure. The enthusiastic participation of our respected Principal Prof Azra Munawar Farooqi and faculty made the event even more encouraging and memorable.

The world of textile design is woven with imagination, innovation, and the ability to transform ideas into visual stories. This year, the students of BS Semester VIII, Apparel and Textile Department, Ra'ana Liaquat Ali Khan Government College of Home Economics, Karachi, brought to life an inspiring display of their final projects.
The work not only reflected their academic learning but also showcased their evolved ability to create designs that are visually pleasing. It was a visual journey of creativity expressed through themes, colours, textures, printing techniques, weaving patterns, and surface embellishments.
Their hard work reflects their readiness to step confidently into the professional world of their field.

Organized by Semester 7 students under the guidance of Ms. Rabail Mangi, the session featured an insightful talk by Ms. Natasha Rahmani on modern career trends and smart career choices.
Held on 26 November 2025, the event received enthusiastic participation and proved to be both engaging and memorable.
The BS 6th Semester, Apparel and Textile Department at Ra'ana Liaquat Ali Khan Government College of Home Economics,Karachi conducted a hands-on workshop focused on textured tote bag printing under the Community Internship -A program. The video captures students experimenting with various tools and materials to create unique surface patterns. It highlights their artistic engagement, the printing process, and the beautifully designed tote bags completed during the session.
