Chinese Consulate General in Karachi Holds China-Pakistan Youth "Face-to-Face" Exchange Event_Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Karachi On August 1, 2025, Chinese Consulate General in Karachi held a China-Pakistan Youth "Face-to-Face" Exchange Event, where young diplomats from the consulate engaged in in-depth interactions with students from the Institute of Business Management in Pakistan.

On August 1, 2025, Pakistan Council on Foreign Relations (PCFR) organized a visit to the Chinese Consulate, Karachi for the participants of the Youth Access Program. Interns under PCFR’s Youth Access Program were taken to the Chinese Consulate and had discussions with Consulate Staff. Ambassador Hasan Habib, Co-Chairman PCFR and Mr. Syed Ghulam Raza, Executive Director PCFR led the students on this visit.

In his remarks H.E. Mr. Yang Yundong, Consul General of China welcomed all the participants and appreciated PCFR for organizing this visit. He further said that this kind of events are crucial for young people to learn more about China and bilateral relations between Pakistan and China. On this visit students had discussion on a number of topics including;

1. China’s Modernization: Opportunities for the Developing World
2. China’s Vision of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)
3. China’s Education System
4. China’s Efforts in Combating Terrorism in Xinjiang
5. China’s Approach Toward Minorities

Mr. Song Zhang, Vice Consul and other Chinese Consulate Staff members gave briefing on the above themes. The briefing was followed by a lively Q/A session where interns raised pertinent questions that generated a valuable discussion. In his concluding remarks, Amb. Hasan Habib, thanked the Chinese Consulate for hosting this visit and hoped that the outcome of the discussion will certainly enhance interns' understanding about China and bilateral relations between Pakistan and China. Amb. Habib further said that PCFR will continue to play its role in promotion of bilateral relations and look forward to more interactions in future. At the end, the Chinese consulate presented books to the visiting delegation.

On July 25, 2025, Pakistan Council on Foreign Relations (PCFR) hosted a meeting with H.E. Mr. Titus Mehliswa Johnathan Abu Basutu, Ambassador of Zimbabwe to Pakistan on his first visit to Karachi after assuming the office.

Ambassador Syed Hasan Habib, Co-Chairman PCFR formally welcomed the Honorbale Ambassador and other guests while Mr. Zubair Tufail, Chairman PCFR presented Ajrak to Honorable Ambassador. Newly appointed Honorary Consul General of Zimbabwe, Mr Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir was also present on the occasion.

Ambassador Abu Basutu, thanked PCFR for the invitation to meet senior board members of the Council that provided an excellent opportunity to exchange views on bilateral relations between Pakistan and Zimbabwe. Ambassador enlightened the participants on the geographical, economic, and social characteristics Zimbabwe. Ambassador said that Zimbabwe is blessed with abundant natural and human capital.

Ambassador highlighted the potential of bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Zimbabwe specially in the fields of trade, defence, and education. He maintained that there are four specific windows including agriculture, mining, manufacturing, and tourism where both countries can enhance cooperation. Ambassador invited Pakistani business community to visit Zimbabwe to capitalize these four avenues of cooperation and explore other opportunities.

May 6, 2025- Pakistan Council on Foreign Relations hosted a farewell in honor of outgoing Consul General of Iran Mr. Hassan Nourian. Consul General Nourian completed his tenure of the office this month and leaving for his home.
Ambassador Syed Hasan Habib, Co-Chairman PCFR while addressing the gathering expressed warm admiration and appreciations for Consul General's services to promote bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran. Amb Habib said his tenure remained crucial for enhancing diplomatic activities, people to people contact, and business relations between two brotherly countries. Amb. G R Baluch also praised Consul General for his efforts to bringing two nations closer and he will always remain in good memories of people of Pakistan specially of Karachi.
Consul General Nourian thanked PCFR team for the support and cooperation extended during his tenure of the office. He said that he is taking good memories of his tenure of the office.
PCFR presented a souvenir as token of appreciation to Mr. Hassan Nourian while Consul General also presented crust to Mr. Ahsan Mukhtar Zubairi as token of appreciation for PCFR's support and cooperation.

24 April 2025: Pakistan Council on Foreign Relations (PCFR), Karachi and Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China, jointly hosted a seminar on “Chinese Modernization and Pakistan-China Relations” at Chinese Consulate Karachi. The Seminar was being organized to mark the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping’s visit to Pakistan. The event was attend by members of diplomatic corps, government officials, business community, academics, and members of PCFR.

Mr. Yang Yundong, Consul General of China in Karachi, greeted the worthy guests in his welcome address. Consul General Yundong said that President Xi’s historic state visit to Pakistan ushered in a new chapter in the traditional friendship and bilateral relations between the two countries. He maintained that China’s modernization had consistently promoted high-quality development, joining hands with Pakistan on the path towards shared prosperity, advancing together, and mutually reinforcing each other’s progress.

Mr. Irfan Soomro, Director General, Foreign Affairs’ Liaison Office Karachi, Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, Former Governor State Bank, Ambassador G R Baluch, Ambassador Syed Hasan Habib, Prof. Zhang Jiegen of Fudan University, Shanghai, and Mr. Zubair Tufail, Chairman PCFR addressed the Seminar.
