A team from UNICEF Pakistan, led by Acting Representative Melissa Corkum, met with Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives, Mr. Ahsan Iqbal, ahead of his departure to the Global Caregivers Forum in Madrid later this month, where Pakistan will be represented as a champion country for advancing parenting and Early Childhood Development.
The exchange reflected UNICEF’s strong collaboration with Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives in elevating parenting support and aligning national leadership with efforts to give every child the best possible start in life.

‎The First and the Second Resurrection
‎
‎The Bible reveals two distinct resurrections, each with a different purpose and outcome. Understanding the difference helps clarify Jehovah’s arrangement for heaven and earth.

The First Resurrection
‎
‎The first resurrection is described at Revelation 20:4-6. It is a heavenly resurrection to immortal spirit life. Jesus Christ is the first to be raised in this way, being called “the firstborn from the dead” (Colossians 1:18). Those sharing in this resurrection are chosen from among mankind to rule with Christ as kings and priests during his Thousand-Year Reign. Over them, “the second death has no authority.”

The Second Resurrection
‎
‎The second resurrection refers to the general resurrection of mankind to life on earth. Jesus spoke of this when he said that “all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out” (John 5:28-29). This resurrection includes “both the righteous and the unrighteous” (Acts 24:15) and takes place under Christ’s Kingdom rule. Those raised are given the opportunity to learn obedience and gain everlasting life on a restored earth (Psalms 37:29).

‎In summary, the first resurrection is a limited, heavenly resurrection to immortality, while the second resurrection is an earthly resurrection offering mankind the chance for everlasting life.
‎The two resurrections are not contradictory; they are complementary:
‎The first resurrection produces a heavenly government.
‎The second resurrection restores obedient mankind to life on earth.
‎Together, they fulfill Jehovah’s purpose to unite “the things in the heavens and the things on the earth” under Christ (Ephesians 1:10).
