IBA - ORIC is thrilled to announce its collaboration for the launch of the Women Leadership Forum (WLF) at IBA Karachi, held at the City Campus, on October 22, 2024!

WLF is a groundbreaking initiative that brings together inspiring women leaders and advocates for change.

Kicking off the event, Dr. Irum Saba, Associate Professor at IBA-SBS and Founder of WLF, delivered the opening remarks, followed by a warm welcome from Dr. S Akbar Zaidi, Executive Director, IBA Karachi. We were honoured to have Ms. Sultana Siddiqui, President of Hum Network, as our Special Guest, and Ms. Shazia Marri, Member of the National Assembly, as our Chief Guest!

The launch, organized by IBA ORIC, featured panel discussions on the ‘Need for Women Leadership Advocacy’ and ‘Women Leadership: The Way Forward,’ which sparked engaging conversations on the challenges and solutions in the path to leadership for women.

IBA - ORIC facilitates IBA, Karachi's faculty members with their research, consultancy, capacity building and development initiatives.

IBA Karachi’s ORIC successfully concluded the three-day ‘Tapal Leadership Excellence Program - LEAP’ in collaboration with Tapal Tea this week.

Led by IBA Faculty Mr. Atif Murtaza and Dr. Nyla Aleem Ansari, the program empowered 28 participants, including top leadership and management from Tapal.

The CEO of Tapal, Mr. Samar Hayat Khan, delivered an inspiring keynote, while IBA Registrar, Dr. Asad Ilyas, delivered the closing remarks.

IBA-ORIC, under its IBA Access initiative, continues to offer top-tier consultancy services to corporate clients and beyond.

The Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (IBA ORIC) recently hosted a Grant Writing Workshop for the faculty, led by Dr. Nausheen H. Anwar, Founder & Director of the Karachi Urban Lab and Professor at the School of Economics and Social Sciences, IBA.

The workshop, attended by over 50 faculty members, researchers, and professionals, focused on enhancing research through grants, collaboration, and faculty development.

IBA ORIC has organised an exclusive 'Grant Writing Workshop', specially designed for ESG researchers and practitioners, to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop winning grant proposals.

The Workshop will be led by Dr Nausheen H. Anwar, Founder & Director, of Karachi Urban Lab (KUL) and Professor of City & Regional Planning, School of Economics & Social Sciences (SESS), Institute of Business Administration (IBA).

The workshop will essentially cover;
1. Understanding ESG Framework
2. Identifying Grant Opportunities relevant to the ESG Framework
3. Crafting a strong ESG Grant Proposal
4. Understanding ESG, Budgeting, Reporting and Compliance requirements

The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), IBA organized a focus group on ‘Fin Tech Inclusion in Pakistan: Academia’s role in closing the Gender Gap’. The session aimed to bring together researchers, policy makers and businesses working towards promoting financial inclusion in Pakistan.

The session was attended by Ms. Raeda Latif, Chief Marketing & Business Development Officer, Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited, Ms. Kanza Akhwand, Manager Growth, Oraan, Ms. Batool Hasan, Branch Manager, Digital Client Partner Program, HBL, Mr. Ammar Habib Khan, CFA, FRM, Assistant Professor of Practice, IBA Karachi & Chief Risk Officer, Karandaaz, Pakistan and Dr. Irum Saba, Associate Professor and Program Director MS-IBF, IBA Karachi.

The session was organized under IBA Access, an initiative of IBA – ORIC to promote industry-academia linkages through specialized consultancy services.

Meet Mr. Adnan Ahmed, a highly regarded Visiting Faculty member in the Marketing department. With a wealth of experience as a consultant and expertise in supply chain, sales, and retail mix, Mr. Ahmed has consistently delivered exceptional results in his consultancy projects. Throughout his impressive 27-year corporate career, he has played pivotal roles in renowned companies such as Avery Dennison, Meat One, and Servaid Pharmacy, focusing on company strategy and supply chain operations.

Mr. Ahmed's remarkable contributions extend beyond the corporate realm. He led a nonprofit organization of 700 individuals, spearheading the "Aoa TB Mitao" Program at Indus Hospital. Managing 61 Free Treatment TB clinics and commercial labs nationwide, his dedication to healthcare solutions was evident. Additionally, he played an integral part in creating the impactful "Younis Khan" ad. His consultancy expertise has also been instrumental in optimizing operations for SMASH Burgers, ensuring seamless integration of the back-end supply chain. At Dvago Pharmacy, Mr. Ahmed conducted in-depth analyses of operations, retail mix, and store performance, aligning standard operating procedures (SOPs), HR practices, and training processes with the company's mission. Furthermore, he provided valuable guidance to Zultec Pakistan, a multifaceted service provider in IT, Retail, Packaging, and Industrial Solutions.
