It gives us great pleasure to announce that one of our projects, ChipShop: A Cloud-Based GUI for Accelerating SoC Design, has been accepted for the First FireSim and Chipyard User/Developer Workshop at ASPLOS 2023 in Vancouver, Canada. Our research assistants at MERL, Shahzaib Kashif and Talha Ahmed, who have degrees in software engineering from UITU, deserve praise, as does the project's mentor, Dr. Farhan Ahmed Karim, the software team lead at MERL.
ChipShop is a cloud-based System-on-Chip (SoC) generation platform built on top of the Chipyard infrastructure, which provides a web-based graphical user interface (GUI) for the configuration of SoC Generation processes. This platform aims to simplify the SoC design process by allowing users to configure every aspect of their SoC with a user-friendly, intuitive interface, all hosted on the cloud.
Key Features:
- Graphical interface for configuring SoC Generation processes
- FPGA emulation and mapping through the GUI
- Realtime collaboration and version control

Another achievement for Micro Electronics Research Lab (MERL) - UIT University. MERL is mentoring 2 projects this spring in The Linux Foundation Mentorship Programme sponsored by RISC-V International.
RISC-V only sponsored 2 projects this spring, both are of MERL. "Adding F extension in NucleusRV Core" and "Implement Tilelink Uncached Heavyweight (TL-UH) in Caravan". We have received more than 180 applications from all over the world out of which only 2 qualified individuals will be selected. Mentors for above projects are our Software Engineering, Computer Science and Computer Engineering Graduates, Muhammad Hadir Khan, Usman Zain ul Abedin, Talha Ahmed, and Shahzaib Kashif.
