Sindh Higher Education Commission successfully concluded a one day training workshop on Programme Review for Effectiveness and Enhancement (PREE) today, held from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm at ICCBS, University of Karachi.

The workshop focused on implementing Pakistan Percepts, Standards & Guidelines (PSG 2023) for excellence in higher education institutions, bringing together faculty members involved in the PREE Programme Team Exercise for a full day of programme review, evidence based evaluation, and continuous improvement practices.

The session was conducted by Syed Waqar ul Hasan, Director, Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) & Regulatory Affairs, Salim Habib University, Karachi.

Prof. Dr. S.M. Tariq Rafi (TI), the Chairperson Sindh HEC, graced the occasion and addressed the participants at the concluding session. In the closing remarks, it was noted: "Quality assurance is not really about paperwork. It is about trust." And further: "That is the real meaning of quality, not a certificate on the wall, but a habit of asking hard questions about ourselves and acting on the answers."

Joint Meeting Between Sindh HEC and Punjab HEC

A joint meeting between the Sindh Higher Education Commission (Sindh HEC) and the Punjab Higher Education Commission (Punjab HEC) was held today to discuss various important matters and agendas of mutual interest concerning higher education.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Tariq Rafi, Chairman, Sindh Higher Education Commission; Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan (HI, SI), Chairperson, Punjab Higher Education Commission; and Dr. Noman Ahsan, Secretary, Sindh Higher Education Commission.

The participants engaged in constructive discussions on matters related to higher education development, institutional collaboration, and areas of mutual cooperation between the two provincial higher education commissions.

Yesterday, "Industrial Waste Symbiosis in Sindh" seminar was held at Salim Habib University, Karachi, organized by the Sindh Higher Education Commission's Directorate of Strategic Planning.

Throughout the day, policymakers, industry representatives and academics came together to discuss how industrial waste across Sindh can be turned into valuable resources for other businesses. The seminar was divided into three sessions, covering policy and regulation, industrial mapping and technology, and research implementation, each bringing forward practical ideas from different corners of the field.

Participants shared their experiences and offered suggestions on building a more resource efficient and sustainable industrial environment for Sindh. The day wrapped up with a shield distribution ceremony, followed by tea and informal conversations among the guests.
