شیخ المحدثین امام عبداللہ بن المبارک رحمہ اللہ فرماتے ہیں:
ہمارے اور لوگوں کے مابین فیصلہ سند کے ذریعہ ہوگا۔

نیز فرماتے ہیں:
سند دین ہے، سند نہ ہوتی تو جس کے جی میں جو آتا کہتا جاتا۔
